Project Name AN EMBEDDED MOBILITY AID SYSTEM FOR THE BLIND

Description of the Project

The aim of the project is to make life simpler for the blind people. It is difficult for a blind person to step out without someone’s help. The stick used by the blind lets them to know about the obstacle on there path only if stick comes in contact with the obstacle physically. This may sometimes cause difficulty for the blind person to walk on the path and it can also harm them with serious injuries. Our electronic safety guard system will alert them of any obstacle in there path from a distance of 1.5 meters through the headphones or vibration of the stick. A major component of the system which will perform the actual obstacle position sensing; the sensors chosen are SRF04 ultrasonic range finders. The module consists of a microcontroller for the control operations. The transmitter and receiver are the peizo electromechanical transducers mounted on the same chip of SRF04. We use Earphones and also a DC motor for intimating the person. The programming is done using EMBEDDED C, Keil_c51_v802a software.
