Synthetic Materials dewatering construction
projects were out of control and falling behind
schedule. Recruited by CEO to apply business
experience and financial discipline at project
level. Improved controls and reporting across-
the-board. Completed project on time and on
budget.
Engineered turnaround at $240M OCedar. Recently
acquired $240M OCedar brand was struggling.
Recruited by Board of Directors as CFO,
collaborated with new CEO to develop plans for
quick turnaround. Installed new controls and
restructured operations, reversing 10% EBITDA
loss to record 12% profit in 18 months.
Strategic plan produces 230% growth. Hobart
Bothers (HB) needed stronger management.
Recruited to bring public company discipline to
a large, family-run business. Developed and
implemented five-year strategic plan with M&A
program, benchmarking and improved reporting.
Sales grew from $150M to $350M in eight years.
Spearheaded $90M joint venture. HBs Advanced
Systems Group, a robotic systems manufacturer,
had joint venture opportunity with Japan-based
Yaskawa Electric. Developed and directed the
finance, manufacturing and administrative
functions of alliance that grew from $8M to $90M
in six years.
New controls reverse $12M loss. HBs Motoman,
Inc. unit was losing $1M pre-tax every month.
Installed stronger financial controls and
upgraded reporting. Centralized finance function
to reduce department payroll 24% Implemented
company-wide cost reduction program to increase
margins 2%. Turned loss into $1M monthly profit.
Managed profitable startup. Recognized business
opportunity in home improvement market.
Established regional franchise in closet
organization, office, storage and work area
systems in southern Ohio. Managed finance and
