SYNOPSIS

Over twenty-five years in industrial piping and process instrumentation design and construction. Designer/Field Engineer on various projects in the Food, Chemical, Nuclear and Pulp and Paper Industries. Thirteen of those years as the on-site Designer/Draftsman at a paper manufacturing facility. I have 20 years experience working with AutoCAD.

August 2010 - January 2011 Corbin Engineering, for Intel, Hillsboro, Oregon at the Ronler Acres campus

Working on contract through Aerotek as staff augmentation for Intel, field verifying and updating P&ID's. This is in preparation of a multibillion dollar expansion at this plant site. It has given me the opportunity to familiarize myself with the systems and plant site.

September 2008 – June 2009 FluorDaniel, Eagan, Minnesota.

Working on contract through Aerotek on small capital and maintenance projects. Piping design and routing piping with AutoCAD. Preparing work packages with on site work for Flint Hill Resources at their Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, Minnesota.

July 2007 – June 2008 (Working for NES Overseas USA. Orlando, Florida)

Assigned to Kiewit Power Engineers (formerly Bibb & Associates) Lenexa (Kansas City), Kansas as a Piping Designer. Working on the design of an Ethanol Plant (2 units, 216 million gal. per year, combined). Using Bentley-Micro Station and 3-D modeling software. Checking and correcting vendor equipment models for accuracy and pipe routing. Interfacing with the Engineer to rectify oversights and interferences.

While on this assignment I also worked on a Power / Co-Generation project.

January 2005 – May 2007 (Working for SRI Technologies Inc. Bellevue, WA)

Assigned to Weyerhaeuser (Federal Way, WA) as a Piping Designer. Working on a new Recovery Boiler expansion for mill site at Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. Designing and drafting piping associated with the expansion at the corporate office. Using AutoCAD with Weyerhaeuser’s proprietary menu system.

Assigned to Weyerhaeuser (Cosmopolis, WA) as a Planner in the maintenance department for the piping group. Duties include field design and drawing of piping and support modifications. Updating and maintaining mill maintenance records. Interfacing with craft, vendors, contractors, and other departments for ongoing work. Using AutoCAD with Weyerhaeuser’s proprietary menu system.

As the on-site Designer/Draftsman for the Engineering department of a containerboard manufacturing facility, assumed various responsibilities associated with maintenance, engineering and modification of an 800-ton/day paper mill. Developed skills on the PC and CAD through courses, seminars and self-learning for the design and CAD drafting of piping and mechanical assemblies, as well as editing and updating electrical and instrumentation drawings. Developed and maintained the CAD standards. Supervised and coordinated with consultants and contractors, on and off site.

1986-1988 NORWEST ENGINEERING (Portland, OR)

Senior Designer for a consulting firm in the Process-Piping department for various projects. Clients included: Willamette Industries (corporate offices, Portland, OR), Smurfit Newsprint (Newberg, OR) and Boise Cascade (Vancouver, WA).

1984-1986 PULLMAN POWER PRODUCTS (On loan to Georgia Power, Waynesburo, GA) Plant Vogtle

Field Engineer, representing the owner of a power plant under construction. Responsible for the review and acceptance of instrument and related piping systems, directed piping superintendents, engineers and craft to meet schedules and conformance to design standards and specifications.

1982-1984 BALWIN ASSOCIATES (Clinton, IL) Clinton Nuclear Power Plant

Field Engineer at a Power Plant under construction. Worked with craft and engineers to resolve field interference and design problems with piping and supports.

1980-1982 PETER KIEWIT SONS’ CO (WPPS Units 3 and 5, Elma, WA) Satsop Nuclear Power Plant

Draftsman for a construction company building two nuclear power plants. Drafted piping isometrics and resolved design problems with piping, supports and instrumentation.

1978-1980 KINTECH SERVICES, INC (Evanston, IL)

Piping Designer. Responsibilities included equipment layout, estimating, model building, P&ID development and the design and drafting of piping systems.

1976-1978 INSTITUTE OF GAS TECHNOLOGY (Pilot plant facility, Chicago, IL)

Draftsman at a pilot plant facility for coal gasification. Responsible for the design and drafting in piping and mechanical.
