Engineering Projects

End Plate Design For SAE Formula One Race Cars:

This project was mainly focused on reducing the boundary layer and increasing the cornering speed for racing cars.

• The flow over the tire without a wing causes lift on it so in order to produce down force wing is used. My project is to produce additional down force and to divert the flow over the tire by extending the end plate edges of a front wing.

• Modelling of the endplate with front wing assembly was done using SOLID WORKS and was imported to STAR CCM+ where CFD analysis was done.

• A shroud, foot and a curvature was added to the endplate and the optimization was done by varying different parameters such as the length and thickness of them.

• Studied the flow over a race car tire with a wing in front of it using STAR CCM+.

Experience Gained in: Solid Works, STAR CCM+ and CFD Analysis.

Nozzle Design Project

This project was mainly focused on learning about the CD Nozzle design and knowledge over the software’s.

• Designed a Convergent-Divergent supersonic nozzle at sea-level and higher altitudes.

• Modelling was done using Gambit and CFD analysis was done using fluent software.

Experience Gained in: Gambit and Ansys Fluent, CFD Analysis

Data Center Cooling

This project was mainly focused on thermal analysis (cooling) of the data centres racks.

• Used ANSYS ICEPAK for modelling datacenter racks, perforated tiles and over head circulating fans.

• By varying the perforations in tiles and using the over head circulating fans tried to achive uniform cooling along the racks. Simulations were carried out in ANSYS ICEPAK.

Experience Gained in: ANSYS ICEPAK

Auto CAD Project

• Designed an endplate using AutoCAD as a drawing project.

• Designed and drafted various coupling assemblies which included bolts, nuts, circular joints, tapered shafts etc.

Experience Gained in: Auto CAD

Technical and Software Skills

• Mechanical Engineering Packages: Pro-E, Auto-CAD, Solid Works, ANSYS, Catia and Star CCM+

• Programming Languages: C, C++, Matlab and Data Structures.

• Web Designing Tools & OS: HTML, MS-office, Windows 98/Xp/2000/Vista/7.

Relevant Course work:

Air-Breathing Propulsion Computational Fluid Dynamics Kinematics of Machines Elect Packaging Continuum Mechanics GasDynamics Strength of Materials Structural Dynamics Finite element method Analytic Methods Engineering Thermo Dynamics CAD/CAM

Machine Drawing Convection Heat Transfer

Extra Curricular Activities:

• Member of Indian student association at UTA (ISAUTA).

• Worked as Event Manager for ISAUTA.

• Participated in IIT DELHI Tech fest.

• Active member of mechanical organizing committee in Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IARE).

• Titled as the Dancing Queen Of University Of Texas At Arlington.
