Internship. NEMAK is a company of Grupo ALFA that specializes in the production of aluminum components for the automotive industry. Their main products are cylinder heads, engine blocks and transmission parts. My project took place in “Taller de Herramental 1” (Tooling Repair shop). The purpose of the shop is to give maintenance to the tooling required to build the engine blocks and cylinder heads. My work was to find out how much does it cost (By Activity Based Costing) to give maintenance to the different components used to produce in Nemak s plants 1 and 2.

Empack de Nuevo Laredo S.A. de C.V. is a medium size box manufacturing company located in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México. It specializes in all sorts of carton packaging products, which include boxes, separators, inserts and carton pads.

Production manager assistant, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México. Summer Job from 2004 to 2008.

Summer job. I was the production manager’s personal assistant. The job included applying the theorical part of industrial engineering. Mainly quality control, process engineering and system control. It helped the company understand processes and documentation. The job also included sales assistance. My job there was to visit costumers and attending their needs.

Internship. As my summer job, this internship included applying the theorical part of industrial engineering. Mainly quality control, process engineering and system control. It helped the company to understand processes and documentation.

Process Engineer, ISO coordinator, Marketing planner. May 2009 to present.

As process engineer my job is to make sure that every step of each process is taken. Instruct the personal to use the adequate documentation for each process they do. By doing this, Empack was able to address those problems or potential problems faster. This also helped track the status of production and non-conforming material. Helping the company reduce client complains.

As the ISO coordinator my job was to create the Quality Manual of the company thus all of its procedures, documents and registries needed. Once I was done with all of this, I had to instruct and sensibilize the entire personnel in what ISO is all about. Make them understand that quality is the most important asset the company had to offer and that documenting correctly is not a hard thing. We achieved certification the 22nd of December of 2010. Now the job goes hand and hand with my process engineer post in which we document everything so we can make those improvements the company needs.

Secondary Project. The combination of my position in process engineering and ISO Coordinator helped to indentify a project that could help the company in its inventory control. We re-settled up the warehouse section where the finished good were stocked. We added up industrial racks to obtain a better control of the products. We classified them by client, frequency of sale and quantities. The reason for this was that with some clients the company works with a JIT system (Just-In-Time) by means of the KANBAN software. This helped the company have a better control of any product’s inventory, thus better protection.

As Marketing planner my job is to work on the image of the company. Mainly transmit to our customers that we not only sell at good price but we sell quality. My current project on this post is to present the company’s manager with an agreeable publicity campaign of the recent ISO 9001:2008 certification.
