Projects

• Project Manager – Responsible for the implementation of a Network Device Configuration Management and Compliance system – Opsware NAS. Project scope includes hardware purchase decisions, network integration, application install, application configuration and integration with existing IP discovery tools. Ongoing development and design work to integrate Opsware into the Firms workflow and project management systems (Remedy) and the Firms IT Security systems (Novell Sentinel)

• Project Manager – Responsible for the design, development, purchasing and integration of a ‘next generation’ Network and Systems management infrastructure at the Firm. This new environment will consist of Blade server based cluster computing using both existing management tools and new tools evaluated in the past year. The final purchase decision will use HP Openview, OpenSystem NerveCenter, Microsoft MOM, IBM Netcool, IBM Impact and various other tools. Project was completed in early 2007 and delived on time and within budget.

• Worked with Cisco in developing and implementing a monitoring strategy for a high availability, multicast based trading infrastructure. The low latency monitoring was performed with Corvil as well as SevOne. Open source alternatives were also developed for this project.

• Enterprise Network Management – Responsible for new product R & D working with new network hardware (routers, switches, content switches) to both develop new management concepts and to integrate existing element managers into the Global Management environment. This includes interfacing with vendors, running pilot projects and developing new code when needed.

• Designed and implemented an IBM Blade Server based lab environment for testing new network management products against a variety of new LAN and WAN products. This included design, procurement and implementation of various network management products

• Responsible for the design and development of network device behavior models within products such as Open Systems Nerve Center. These models are used to manage both existing devices and new devices being implemented.

• Responsible for evaluating new releases of current network management software to insure compatibility with the current management environment.

• Responsible for day to day support of the current Global Network Management infrastructure. This includes all LAN and WAN monitoring tools both developed in-house and vendor supplied as well.

• Designed and developed many SNMP based applications for performing various network device related tasks in the Firms production and security environment.

• Designed and developed applications such as automated paging systems, process load balancers, email parsing gateways, and environment dependent process launchers.

• Evaluated competing SNMP technologies for event correlation and downstream error suppression. Used this evaluation in picking a vendor to supply this technology to the Firm.

• Designed, developed and maintained SNMP Behavior models using the Nerve Center management tool. These models were used to poll all of the Firms network devices to collect MIB data, evaluate the collected data and send alerts into the network management platform (Netcool & HPOV). Part of the design and evaluation process included the evaluation of vendor specific MIBs as well as working closely with the various vendors to bring changes to the MIBs to enhance the Firms operational capabilities.

• Provide level 2 support for all of the Firms network management systems as well as the UNIX and NT platforms these systems ran on.

• 1991 to 1998 - Salomon Inc.- Senior Network Engineer
