May-Aug 2012 (3 months)
TITLE: Isolation and characterization of UK-2A resistant mutants in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Magnaporthe grisea.
Isolation of resistant mutants. Screening for cross-sensitivity with other commercially available products.
DNA extraction and amplification of cyt b gene. Sequencing and aligning with the wild type for mutant selection.
INTERNSHIP: Summer Internship at Dow Agrosciences, Indianapolis, IN through Kelly Services.
May-Aug 2011 (3 months)
TITLE: Real-Time PCR as an alternative to screen compounds with fungicide activity using Septoria and Wheat system.
• DNA extraction using Biosprint 96 and DNeasy kit. Plant genomic DNA extraction using CTAB.
• DNA quantification using Picogreen assay.
• Real-Time PCR to detect and quantify the Fungal DNA in Wheat plants inoculated with the fungal pathogen at different time intervals and treated with different concentrations of fungicides.
• Determination of effect of fungicides on the amount of fungal DNA.
PROJECT:
TITLE: ISOLATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF IFN-ϒ GENE IN CHICKEN CELLS
CENTRE: MADRAS VETERINARY COLLEGE, CHENNAI, INDIA
Jan-June 2010 (6 months)
OBJECTIVE: To compare expression of IFN-ϒ in the PBMCs and spleen cells.
Spleen cells were cultured and RNA was isolated. cDNA was then synthesized and reverse transcriptase PCR was performed. The product was eluted and sequenced. The conclusion was the comparison of expression of IFN-ϒ in the PBMCs and spleen cells.
