Professional Experience
LAKELAND INDUSTRIES, INC.– DECATUR, AL 2005 to Present
Information Technology Security Administrator
In the position of IT Security Administrator I have been assigned IT responsibilities that provide direction for Lakeland’s technology infrastructure located throughout the world and the United States to include Lakeland locations in China, India, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Canada, UK, Alabama, New York, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Manage large-scale enterprise migration projects, systems conversions and performance tuning, managing and monitoring of applications/systems. Help set long-range technical direction and capacity plans.
Key Results:
* Throughout my career I have continually produced cost savings through aggressive negotiation of contracts and pricing on hardware/software purchases and consulting services. I am very aggressive at achieving cost savings and consider this to be one of my strongest assets.
* Project lead for Lakeland’s new implementation and management of Microsoft’s Exchange 2007 Geo Cluster email system. Directed the research, testing, and implementation of this major IT project. This new email system has given Lakeland the ability to have a high availability failover email system. In a disaster scenario Lakeland could have the email system failover within 20 minutes at Lakeland’s disaster recovery data center.
* Attained consistent 99% up time by implementing and managing disaster recovery and fault tolerance plans. Instituted the first highly reliable corporate-wide, centralized backup system.
* Directed the research, testing and implementation of an Email Spam/Antivirus and Website Filtering solution. Spam has been reduced on average 95%. By implementing Website Filtering to block non-work related websites Lakeland’s Internet bandwidth has increased by 80% eliminating the need to purchase additional Internet bandwidth. This has also decreased the amount of time users spend surfing the Internet therefore increasing productivity.
* Taking the initiative I researched, recommended, implemented, and manage a WAN network acceleration solution at each Lakeland location. This WAN network acceleration solution has increased the network response time between all Lakeland locations to near LAN like speeds. These devices on average compress data to 85% being sent between facilities which cause the network speed and response time to increase dramatically.
* Initially hired by Lakeland to move Lakeland’s websites from an external website hosting company to web servers located within Lakeland’s data center. I was confident in my ability as a webmaster and explained that it would not be a problem. Within two months, I had moved all Lakeland websites in house to Lakeland’s data center. This eliminated web hosting fees, gave local manageability to Lakeland’s IT department, and allowed local backups of the web servers. In addition, I also took over the website management duties and completely redesigned the websites giving the websites a newer look, and easier manageability functions.
* Reviewed Lakeland’s existing VPN connection method and recommended a newer solution that would be user friendly for all Lakeland’s remote users. I researched several hardware solutions and implemented a newer technology call SSL-VPN. This new SSL-VPN solution gives Lakeland’s remote users the ability to connect to Lakeland’s private network without the need to install software. The new solution also allows users that need to work from home the ability to connect through an employee website portal which gives them remote access to their office desktop computer from any computer that has Internet access. This has increased employee productivity.
* Gathered and assessed needs from internal business units and end users; created custom solutions to resolve issues (e.g., system slowdowns, virus outbreaks and process bottlenecks); and researched and implemented solutions to resolve those issues and any that may arise.
* One of my many responsibilities includes managing Lakeland’s RF Scan Gun systems and Bar-coding systems. I have extensive experience in these areas. I researched, tested, and recommended a new RF Scan Gun system and Bar-coding systems since Lakeland’s old RF and Bar-coding systems were very outdated and performed slowly. After testing different solutions I implemented a new RF Scan Gun system that gives end users faster response times, larger screens, and scan speeds using this new RF Scan Gun system. Implemented new Bar-coding systems that allow faster and higher resolution printing of labels.
* Due to compliance issues I researched and implemented a monitoring solution that gives senior Lakeland executives and the IT Security Administrator the ability to monitor an employee’s computer activity. With this new compliance monitoring solution, all keystrokes, chats messages, emails, and websites are monitored to ensure compliance to Lakeland’s IT security policies.
JIT SERVICES LLC – HUNTSVILLE, AL 2001 to 2005

Network and EDI Administrator for six warehouses located in Alabama, Indiana, Georgia, and Mexico. I managed the IT infrastructure including: Electronic data interchange services, network administration, warehouse management systems, computer systems, software solutions, printer systems, telecommunication systems, and RF scan gun systems.
Key Results:
* Helped introduce a new, RF scan gun system. This new RF scan gun system increased response times connecting to JIT’s Warehouse management system. The new RF scan guns had larger screens for easier reading and gave end users improved bar-code scanning capabilities.
* Managed Electronic data interchange services that JIT offered. I implemented a new Electronic Data Interchange software solution during my time at JIT. This new EDI software solution dramatically improved EDI communications between JIT and the vendors that required EDI communications.
