Project Description:

This project was done as part of the MCA Final Year course requirements. This project involved building a session Log Parser tool for Informatica that serves as a Developer Companion Suite. The tool provides the developers deep insight into run statistics as well as performance tips for improving the throughput of the ETL processes.

The tool also serves the purpose of reporting the health of an application running on Informatica Powercenter in terms of performance over a period of time. The report is displayed as a data grid or in the form of Graphs, Charts and Blocks to the end-user.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Analysis phase that includes

• Understanding Informatica powercenter Tool.

• Development of ETL mappings to simulate various categories of errors.

• Extensive discussions with a representative sample of Informatica Developers and Production support teams to understand and identify the key parameters.

Tool development Phase that includes

• Working closely with a representative sample of Powercenter Developers to arrive at a GUI.

• Developing and enhancing the tool to meet the requirements of the Developer community.

• Thorough unit testing of the tool.

Implementation and Transition Phase that includes

• Providing UAT support to User Community.

• Tool Presentation to a select audience to bring out the features as well as benefits of the Tool.

• Knowledge transition of the tool to the Tool Maintenance Team.
