C.W.I. & Quality Control Inspector Hastings, Nebraska

While employed by Topp’s Mechanical Inc, I became First Aid and C.P.R certified.

As a lead C.W.I. quality control inspector, I was responsible for overseeing 4 other C.W.I. inspectors. My daily duties included verifying that contract obligations were met, verification of procedures to consumables being used, inspection of pipe and structural welds, verification of pipe and weld coordinates, weld mapping, documentation and data entry, setting up and monitoring NDE crews, and setting up and monitoring weld testing. My daily responsibilities required me to work closely with the clients, customer and other contractors and vendors.

As a General Foreman, my day to day responsibilities were to manage a crew of 26 men and 2 Foreman, oversee all fabrication and welding of boiler tubes, generating tubes, piping, duct work and structural steel building installation. I was also in charge of all weld inspections, weld tracking, and welder qualifications, N.D.E. set-up and records, as well as building an FCO record log book and tracking FCO time to insure all labor and material cost were covered. My daily responsibilities also included management of all consumables, as well as some steel and materials ordering to insure that materials were on the jobsite as needed. I worked closely with Plant officials, crane companies, material suppliers, numerous venders and State and local code enforcement officers to assure that all codes were met per the state of New York.

Position: Craft Foreman Project Value: $800 Million

As a night shift Foreman, my responsibilities were to manage a crew of up to 24 men, and to over see the fabrication, welding and installation of all supports needed to install the piping for Hersig 1 and Hersig 2, the condenser area, the Steam Turbine Building and the tank farm area. I was moved to day shift to assist in hydro, start up and punch list items, as well as the fabrication and installation of Instrument Air, Potable Water and Demin Water piping done with Victaulic pipe, or Press fit pipe. My responsibilities involved over seeing all areas of the unit, and making sure that my crew did quality work in a timely manner on all jobs given to them. I worked here until the Plant made power and put power to the grids.

Responsible for turn-key project: Grass-Roots to Completion. My responsibilities required working with sub-contractors in survey, excavation, grading and road asphalting, form & concrete, block masons, fireproofing, electrical, paint, and fiberglass piping. I was also responsible for day to day activities with a workforce of 40 plus men, including hiring and firing, time-keeping, purchasing and safety. My duties also included working with State and County Code Enforcement Officers, all weld inspections, weld mapping, materials control, NDE scheduling, scheduling crane & trucking and securing all permits. With my daily interaction with the customers, sub-contractors, crew, and suppliers, this job was completed 2 months ahead of schedule.

My day to day responsibilities was to manage a 45 plus man crew on installation of a Urea to Ammonia system. I personally operated a 35 ton crane, set equipment and steel necessary for the piping installation, including all structural steel erection, vessel and equipment placement, utility and process piping systems, including instrumentation and controls. I was also personally responsible for all weld inspections and assuring all that NDE requirements were met, including weld maps, log sheets and materials control and tracking.

As a company, our duties were to supply support to 5 other contractors as the need demanded. I was personally responsible for a 35 plus man crew on plant piping retrofit of the catalytic cracker, alkaline and heavy crude units. My duties included time-keeping, weld inspections, and set-up of all NDE requirements, including all material and consumable control and tracking. Due to my being responsible for the turn-over meeting between night shift and day shift every morning, I had very close communication and interface with customers, clients and other contracting companies, as well as those that we supported.

I was also responsible for weld maps, material control and tracking, as well as close interaction with customers and clients.

I was also responsible for weld-maps and material control. My duties involved daily interaction with customers, clients, and NDE crews.

Started working for B’s Fab as a welder, fabricator and lead man. Within two weeks of employment, I was being asked to relocate and to take the position of Shop Superintendent. My new responsibilities were to manage and control this new manufacturing facility which was vital for the close interface between customer, client and the owner’s of B’s Fab.
