These activities mainly revolved around the treatment of wounded warriors returning injured from down-range activities in military operations over-seas (primary mission); military personnel stationed in Germany; United States Veterans; retires; United Nations members. Overall the department staff of 65 members helped to facilitate the safe and appropriate transfer of patients back to the Continental United States (CONUS), and United Nation member states for continuation of care.
Further specialized projects/responsibilities:
• Produce the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the production of Compounded Sterile Products in order to ensure the medical center’s compliance of the United States Pharmacopeia Chapter 797 and ensure industry standards of practice are met.
• Produce all training material and adjunct material for maintenance and management of Cleanroom activities.
• Coordinate procedures involving inter-department staff and providers for verification of adherence to published guidelines regarding <797>.
• Influential partner in producing a Pharmacy and Therapeutics document/protocol for Vancomycin dosing and management.
• Instrumental in changing documentation and procedures for continuity of patient care for chemotherapy order review, and physician-pharmacy communication.
• Coordinate safe production of cytotoxic/chemotherapeutic agents for infusion for use in Hematology and Oncology though the management of SOP and coordination of training technician staff.
• Produce documents for staff safety guidelines regarding the production and destruction process of hazardous material including cytotoxic/chemotherapeutic agents.
• Instrumental in adding documentation/references of vital documents (i.e. Standard Concentration List, Standard IV Push List, Chemotherapy Standard Concentrations, etcetera) on the LRMC Intranet for coordination of processes for the continued safe production of pharmaceutical products used within the medical center.
