Project Objective: Development and characterization of Al-SiC Metal matrix composites based extruded tubes.

Abstract: The objective here is to developed extruded seamless tubes of Al-SiC based MMCs. Al alloy based composites are very attractive on accounts of their processing flexibility, wide range, low density, high wear resistance, improved elastic modulus and strength. Among all the various types of tubes produced (seamless, cast, electric-resistant weld), seamless tubes exhibits better mechanical strength since it is produced as an integral unit. Various tests were conducted on the extruded tubes samples. The extruded tube exhibited improved mechanical and corrosion resistance properties compared the alloy.

BE PROJECT:

Project Objective: Stress analysis and weight optimization of fluid flow chambers. Analysis of fluid chamber is done using Ansys.

Abstract: A flow system chamber used in waste water recovery system is analyzed. The main objective is to weight optimize the structure using subproblem optimization tool for weight optimization and executing the problem, the initial structural weight of 760 kg is reduced to 385 kg. The results show reduction of weight with iterations and at the same time deflection and stresses are increasing by increasing iterations. But, an overall 49.3% of weight is reduced in the structure for the given loading conditions.
