In 2004 and 2005, implemented X-Ray Sulfur analyzer, Horiba's Particle Size Analyzer, and Micromeritics Accupyc 1330 automatic density analyzer for Chicago Carbon to have better control over their feedstock blending and coke product production. A potential cost savings of 9 million dollars annually.
Also, developed and installed chemical and oil waste collection system for the R & D Laboratory, minimizing the safety hazards of handling waste in the lab.
1991-1999: Clients and Projects - Developed double injection scheme and chemistry required for a FIA (Flow injection analyzer) to determine MEA (monoethanolamine) in wastewater. Patents applied for. Approximately, 1 million dollar savings for Amoco annually.
Designed, developed, and constructed flow injection analyzer to measure levels of DNOC (DiNitro-o-Cresol) in the production of styrene. Now implemented at Amoco Chemical Plant at Texas City, Texas. A tremendous cost savings of 1.5 million per year.
Evaluated and modified Hewlett Packard Laboratory Capillary Electrophoresis System expanding its capability of continuously monitoring the concentration of
4-carboxybenzaldehyde, Benzoic acid, optical density, and total solids in the Purified Terephthalic Acid process. Now implemented at the Cooper River PTA plant in Charleston, SC. Potential savings of 6 million dollars.
Design and constructed a 4-CBA sampling system that would take a 33% Terephthalic acid slurry and prepare it for sampling by the above HP Capillary Electrophoresis instrument.
