Selected Career Achievements

Successfully coordinated and managed the recruitment and hiring of 3600+ employees to the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics F35 program in the first 15 months of the program. As a result, the program received a substantial award fee from the US government.

Established an On Boarding process for all new employees joining the F35 program, which was subsequently adopted by Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Developed and promoted an employee vitality group program used to gather employee ideas/comments; plan and implement social events and activities and; measure employee reactions to new F35 policies and procedures.

Formulated and implemented global supply chain strategies for the F35 production and sustainment supply chain networks.

Reopened and successfully negotiated for Volvo Trucks NA a six year labor agreement with the UAW for both hourly and salaried bargaining unit employees, which included a new HMO/PPO benefit package.

Formed a joint safety committee at Volvo comprised of hourly and salaried employees to increase communications regarding safety, resulting in a 25% reduction in the injury incident rate in the first year.

Negotiated the first labor agreement for Tyler Pipe Industries with the United Rubber Worker International Union following the initial union organization.

Developed and implemented an Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) procedures at Tyler Pipe, bring the company into government compliance.

Established and administered a 40lK plan at Tyler Pipe, resulting in 80% utilization.

Redesigned the manufacturing production flow at Tyler Pipe resulting in a 15% reduction in manpower and $1.5 million savings in capital equipment and maintenance cost.

Volvo Trucks North America – Greensboro, NC, 1998 – 2000

Volvo Trucks, the U.S. Subsidiary of AB Volvo, Sweden, manufactures and distributes Volvo Heavy Duty Trucks from its facility in Dublin, VA. The subsidiary, with annual sales of $2 billion, employs 2,300.

Director Human Resources – Dublin, VA

Responsible for all human resources activity at the Dublin facility for 1,900 hourly and 400 salaried employees.

Planned and executed the hiring of 800 new employees for an expanded second shift operation.

Created a Safety Response Team to cover the one million square foot facility.

Employed a physician, part-time, to review FMLA and Workers Compensation cases to better track medical issues and facilitate the return of employees back to work.

Tyler Pipe Industries – Tyler, TX, 1993 – 1998

One of the largest cast iron foundries, producing and selling drain, waste and vent pipe, utility fittings and OEM castings products with annual sales of $280 million. Tyler Pipe employees over 1,700 employees with facilities in Texas, Pennsylvania, Missouri and California.

VP – Human Resources/Operations

Recruited to join the company following the initial union organization by the United Rubber Workers.

Responsible for all human resources activities for four facilities. After two years, promoted into a combined HR/Operations assignment with additional areas of responsibility which included manufacturing, scheduling, product engineering, purchasing, environmental and facility operations.

Designed and implemented a performance appraisal system based on specific position criteria, employee/supervisor job comparison, performance improvement plans, and alignment of merit pay and timing with the evaluation.

Established market-based job content and pay grade evaluation, ensuring internal/external consistency.
