BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

St. Lawrence Cement 2006-2009

Manufacturing Production Supervisor (2008 – 2009)

Manufacturing Production Relief Supervisor (2006 – 2008)

Coordinated the activities of all production shift personnel in a unionized environment. This included maintenance, electrical, quality control and on site contractors as well ensured each individual worked in a safe and efficient manner to produce conforming product at all times.

(Cement making operations)

 Developed and updated safety procedures for the Kiln Tower Operation that meets (Portland cement association) standards.

 Specialized training in Confined Space and Confined Space Rescue to meet new government regulations for cement manufacturing plants.

 Cross trained in all production supervisory roles and supported their departments during vacation, training and special assignments.

HENKEL (LePage) Consumer Adhesives 2000- 2006

Manufacturing and Packaging Supervisor

Coordinated the day to day batch making, filling and packaging operations of unionized Consumer Adhesives manufacturing operation. (120 employees) Ensured compliance with GMP's, SOP's, Quality and Safety standards. Scheduled production staff, setting priorities with Lead Hands, Mechanics and Material Handlers.

(Bottle-Can-Tube and Cartridge filling operation)

Major customers included Home Depot, Rona, Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart.

 Attained no lost time accidents in the manufacturing areas for 2003, 2004 and 2005 through improved training and updating of safety and operational procedures.

 Implemented productivity improvements for the construction Adhesives line taking the O.E.E. (Optimum Equipment Efficiency) from 70% to 92% in two years by implementing Continuous Improvements Teams.

 Dramatically increased First Time Right on manufacturing batching from 67% to 85% in 2004, through improved pilot batching, equipment modifications and loading procedures.

 Trained in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG Labeling) ,Waste Manifests and then given responsibility for all waste (Solvent and Water based) leaving the plant.

 Implemented a housekeeping plan that improved the overall house keeping of the manufacturing areas by 100% by defining roles, responsibilities and implementation of daily and weekly housekeeping audits.

HUNTER AMENITIES LTD 1998-2000

2ND Shift Production Manager

Coordinated the day to day batch making, bottle filling and packaging of soaps and shampoos for customers in the hotel industry. Scheduled production staff, setting priorities with team leaders, maintenance, material handlers and warehouse staff. (50 employees).

Major customers were in the hotel industry.

UNIFIRST CANADA LTD. 1996- 1998

Production Manager

Managed and directed all aspects of the production department (65 employees), including

production scheduling, shipping, purchasing, health and safety, projects, production reports,

time tickets, training, manpower planning, performance appraisals and production budgets.

(Industrial Laundry)

Major customer was Honda Canada.

 Planned and added a very successful second shift operation to handle new business from the Honda Canada Van Plant.

 Increased productivity and reduced labor cost for sorting of industrial laundry through re-organizing the sorting processes and installing a $150,000 overhead crane and monorail system.

DURACELL CANADA INC 1990- 1996

Production Manufacturing and Packaging Supervisor

Co-managed the product operations of a $60M ISO 9002 manufacturing plant, (120 employees) ensuring the manufacture of high quality, cost effective product and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Supported and facilitated the development of manufacturing teams and certified management representation for safety.

 Reduced scrap from 3.5% to 2% of goods produced, by collecting, identifying rejects and analyzing defects and them implementing corrective actions.

 Reduced the labor cost of the Cell Assembly operation by 25% by increasing skill level of operators, improved procedures and re-organizing the cell assembly lines.

 Co-chaired a steering committee to create an hourly performance review system which would identify training needs and set out new safety, quality and productivity expectations. The performance reviews were then to be used as a tool to determine pay increases. This performance review system was implemented and was very successful.

 Co-chaired the JHSC committee. It was recognized by the organization as very pro-active and successful.

 Successfully implemented and managed a new weekend shift operation for one year and was then promoted.

 Developed and coached successful self directed work teams. Five people from these teams were later promoted to management positions.

Planned and directed all activities of a Rotogravure Printing, Paper Converting and Laser plant. This included safety, hiring, training, scheduling, purchasing and communications with customers, suppliers, trucking firms, contractors and parent company.
