Profile

Project engineer with proven capability of new product development-introduction: detailed design specification, competent analysis of structural design, cost evaluation, performance tests.

Expert in manufacturing processes: machining, welding, assembling, tooling design and manufacturing.

Leader in ISO certification and modern inspection methods: statistic process control, personnel training for self inspection, six sigma procedures. Microsoft Windows 7: World, Exel.

Education

Master in mechanical engineering

Machining Lab.: CNC set up, Master Cam programming.

Solid Works lab.

Languages

Fluent in English, French, and Romanian.

Experience

Quality Inspector, Star Precision, Longmont, CO

First part inspection, final lot inspection, customer reports, and online inspection. Used all range of inspection tools for machined parts, sheet metal parts, welded assemblies, and complex sub assemblies. Trained and mastered the use of CMM, and optical scanner for sheet metals.

Machine Operator, Collins Manufacturing, Boulder, CO

Main duty included manufacturing parts on CNC and manual machines. I got high marks for productivity and consistent quality. Duty also included programming in Master Cam, programs editing and improvement.

Quality Inspector, Denver Precision, Broomfield, CO

Used all range of inspection tools, including optical devices for precision manufacturing inspection. Focused on improving quality assurance using first part inspection & set up correction and statistic process control procedures. Appreciated for an important contribution in decreasing inspection and production cost.

Head of engineering department, Director of marketing, Termorom Romania.

The shut down government own company had to be restarted for the new Italian owner.

A must do and an important success was to assembly and get operational the engineering team of mostly rookies to meet the multiple projects set by the parent company. The accomplishments exceeded the expectations:

_ Design and introduction of new recovery boilers and heavy fuel burners. The profit margin was 25%, better than 15% target.

_ Detailed design of still mill equipment for Danielli: heavy gears, driving units, hydraulics and pneumatics, continuous casting equipment. Export sales up to 12 millions a year.

_ Certification for boilers and pressure vessels to access the European market following the introduction of new European standards.

In the one year time I supervised the marketing department, we added several important customers. Alsthom, France : Transformer subassemblies; sales in the second year up to 2millions euro.

Technipe, France : Process equipment for food industry.

York France : Oil tanks, evaporators and condensers for refrigerating machines.

Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineer, Separation technologies, Cary, NC

The important contribution I made to increase sales and profit margin, happened during the dramatic reset of production to compensate the loss of military orders. The challenging task was to develop and introduce a new product line for export in Europe. I was particularly successful in several decisive actions:

Fast manufacturing and testing of prototypes. Installing and commissioning of new production machines. Designing and implementation of specialty production equipment for welding and assembling to assure a high productivity and consistent quality. Implementing statistic process control, demanded by European customers. The European export generated a major increase in sales and profit margin. The weak dollar did help.

Quality Assurance: Covered all aspects of quality control, lab testing of prototypes, production workers training for on line inspection, final documentation for military reception and export for European customers. Designed quality manual and prepared documentation for ISO 9000 certification

Head of engineering department, COMELF, Romania

Major player in growing the company from 1500 to 5400 employees by research and development of new competitive product lines, what resulted in new production divisions.

Industrial Furnaces. The new fuel efficient furnaces, with a fuel saving between 25 and 30 %, created the market for this division with 500 workers and about 400 units a year output.

Water Treatment Division. To meet the explosion of domestic demand I put up a team to research and design a full product line of water treatment equipment, and supervised the engineering design and construction of the new production facility. The development of ozone generators was a breakthrough in treatment of heavy polluted waste water.

Aluminum Heat Exchangers. It started with a small production of oil coolers for big turbo diesel and jet engines in the prototype division, and developed in a 700 workers facility with a broad range of products. I was in charge to select and supervise the product development team, and engineering design and commissioning of the new production capacity. Today it is a private company with 1500 employees exporting more than 90 % of production.

Another important contribution I made was to strongly increase the export in hard currency. I organized special export teams and supervised quality assurance for export operations, to grow the export sales from a meager 2 mill to more than 18 millions a year.
