PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Essilor of America, Saint Petersburg FL, Fl

Coating Engineer 2000- Current

- In depth understanding of vacuum evaporation hardware: chambers, baffles, traps, pumps, blowers, lines and sealing, flanges, fittings and valves, cooling and heating, vacuum measurements.

- Utilized thin film characterization techniques for coating analysis including material defect analysis, spectral analysis, ellipsometry, stress, roughness, and optical scatter ( Filmetrics Optical Profilometer) used in a variety of geometries.

- Inorganic Coating materials used: metals, oxides, and fluorides.

- Organic Coating materials used: Silane, and Fluorine base

- Innovated processes to treat powdered nanoparticles to enable better dispersion in solvents, and better incorporation in polymer matrices to bring new performance to the coating.

- Develop testing method to test surface and interface properties before and after coating using goniometers

- Use of surface preparation to improve interaction between surfaces (Corona, Plasma atmospheric, Vacuum Plasma, UV, E beam, and chemical)

- Lead Engineer for optical coating process development to improve coating uniformity, yield improvement, coating performance, and cycle time reduction.

- Designed and implemented upgrades for coating machines (Leybold, and Satis) to improve reliability, film quality, system throughput and improve flexibility of the equipment

- Utilized PLC and PC (LabView) for equipment and process automation.

- Gained expert knowledge of all aspects of coating Method (dip, Spin, Spray, Plasma and PVD), cleaning, and testing processes

- Collaborated with Fortune 500 companies to develop new brand of product.

- Collaborated with marketing, production and engineering in developing new equipment for a new product line.

- Testing, characterizing, and differentiating between multiple hydrophobic and hydrophilic organic molecules using Physical Vapor Deposition.

- Directed multiple brainstorming to set up future product roadmap.

- Overseen the worked and trained technician to allow them to grow and bring their own ideas to solve problem.

- Lead in the design and construction of experimental prototype fixtures and modifications to existing hardware.
