In Sharjah Etisalat working on Huawei GPON, MSAN Huawei/UA5000 IPMB/APMB/PVM, Alcatel Digital Cross Connects, Softswitch-Huawei, Zhone GPON, etc. in IS-Operation

A brief description of the routine provisioning/maintenance/planning at Etisalat is depicted as under:

GPON (Gigabit capable Passive Optical Network) NMS

• Huawei GPON (Gigabit capable Passive Optical Network) NMS—Access Network

• Triple Play (VOICE/Soft switch, DATA/BRAS, IP TV/e-Vision)

• IP VPN, IP-Connect, Leased Lines, Layer-2 VPLS, VLL

• Layer 3 VPRN, PRIs, 2G and 3G Circuits for Backhaul of the GSM/UMTS sites.

• Testing of the circuits ranging from 64 Kbps to 100 Megabits per second using the ONT

(Optical Network Terminal) OT928/OT0925 at the Customer’s Premises (CPE)

• Uplink Configuration with the Metro Core Routers IP addresses Pools Planning for the

DSLAMs / OLTs according to the range of the Subscribers with 20 Mask Bits, 12 bits for the Customers’ (4096) IP addresses allocation of the POTS/MGCP in the Soft Switch – Softx3000 a Huawei NMS for the VSBR (Voice Subscribers), MSBR for SIP phones

• Updating the PMS Provisioning Management System for the Automatic Configuration into the NMS according to the Design and the Planning of the Splitters in the Buildings, Hotels, and Plazas according to the EIDs (Etisalat Identifications of the Buildings). Allocation of the GPON’s PON ports and the Slots accordingly in the PMS for the automatic configuration in NMS

• Brown and Green Areas Services Provisioning and the allocation of the Slots/PON ports for migration of the existing Customers from the Conventional Circuits/Systems to the new state-of-the-art technologies and thus ultimately shifting from the TDM Switching to the IP Network

• NMS Servers and Client Management and Troubleshooting in case of malfunctioning and Backup of OLTs, checking the policies for backups already in progress Coordination with Huawei Engineers for the issues of the GPON servers and clients

HUAWEI Access Media Gateway for Multi Services (MSAN)

• NMS Configuration for the Circuits using MSAN/Access Media Gateway—UA5000 of Huawei IPMB uplink for provisioning of the IP-Connect, /Internet Leased Lines/IP VPN, VLL, VPLS, VPRN, IPTV, ADSL, POTS, SIP Services

• VLANs Configuration and Testing of the Circuits with the Data Service Customer Team using Command Line Interface and N2000. Telnet and enabling the Configuration mode and setting VLANs according to the IP addresses of the Test VLANs as well as the Actual VLANs.

• IPNGDLCs/NGDLCs Cabinets having PVM /APMB uplinks for ADSL, E1s, POTS,

• Operation and Maintenance of all type of above services in coordination with Customer Services Teams and the Core Data / TNM and all the concerned sections.

ALCATEL 1630/1515 Digital Cross Connect

• Provisioning, Troubleshooting and Testing of the Digital Cross Connects NMS of ALCATEL1630 and ALCATEL1515. Creating/Deleting and testing different Cross Connects and Creating New E1s for the new ALCATEL PDMUXes (Programmable Digital Multiplexers). Loop testing for Remote and Local side towards different Systems like SDH/Emirates Internet Exchange etc.

• Configuration of the circuits according to the signaling and the interface requirement of the subscribers in collaboration with different sections as well as the customers

Coordination and Planning

• Coordination with other Departments/Sections like Sales/Small and Medium Business, Enterprise Sales/Planning Wing/Data Service/Core Data, Layer2 Maintenance, TNM for Routing, Circuit-Designations, Circuit Allocation, Cabinet Allocation, Configuration Interfacing for provisioning and the troubleshooting of the services.

• Responding to the Telephone Calls and the Lotus/Notes immediately without any delay for the Provisioning and the Troubleshooting of the already running Systems and the new installations

Planning for New and the Up-gradation of the Equipment according to requirement and the new provisioning according to the density of the customers and the demand foresight

June 2005 to May 2008, I have been working as Assistant Divisional Engineer in Digital Transit Exchange Sahiwal where worked on Huawei UMG/AMG UA5000, EWSD, MSG ZTE exchanges, Installation/Commissioning/Maintenance/Billing/Troubleshooting, Creation/ Modification /Cancellation of Data of Switching systems as per time to time requirement and managing the round the clock staff for smooth and faultless system.

July 2003 to June 2005 Assistant Divisional Engineer at Network Management Centre of PTCL at Sahiwal Huawei, Alcatel and ZTE exchanges also Manager/Coordinator for the project execution of Centralized Fault Management System of PTCL for Complaints of the Customers of 5 cities and successfully completed the same.

December 2002 to July2003 Got a 30 weeks of extensive training at Telecom Staff College Haripur from PTCL starting which covered Switching Systems, Transmission Systems, VSAT, Wireless, Mobile Communication and Management, Marketing, Time Management, Finance and Accounting, Power Plant, Rectifiers, Air Conditioning, etc., etc.
