Major areas of responsibilities include the design, installation, start-up and commissioning of steel coil coating equipment and systems for various divisional facilities.
Design Engineer
Key Accomplishments:
• Worked jointly on the design and installation of 1421 chemical treatment system. Designed and installed main dip tank, rinse tanks, storage tanks, and turn roll stands. Produced piping layouts from storage tanks to spray nozzles in rinse tanks.
• Produced the design layouts for installing equipment in a new coil coating facility in Birmingham, AL. Primary areas of concentration were in the design for the coating rooms and terminal equipment. Secondary equipment project followed with the layout and design for the installation of a slitting/embossing line.
• Designed and installed entry terminal equipment (thread tables, carry-over tables, turn roll stands, bridle stands, etc) for the Chicago coil coating line. Installed new payoff reels and provided designs for pneumatics and hydraulics.
CHICAGO FINISHED METALS, Bridgeview, IL 1981 – 1997
Manage and coordinate steel coil coating projects from conception through implementation. Selected to manage projects on secondary equipment such as, slitting, cut-to-length, and embossing lines.
Project Engineer
Key Accomplishments:
• Planned and managed acid pickle tank installation project with the purchase of new dip tank and rinse tanks. Handled project successfully on time and within budget while attaining the goals of increasing dwell time in the dip tank willing providing an increase in surface quality.
• Designed and installed slit coil powered conveyors for the packaging section on slitting lines. Conveyor upgrades were required for extra capacity, speed, and installed with a scale when required.
• Managed three separate embossing line projects for three different plants. One installation also included a turn-key installation of a CTL line.
