****************@*****.***
Goal: To obtain a full time coaching position in an environment where professional growth and development are encouraged and rewarded.
Experience:
Present -2005: Savannah, Ga.
Independent contractor for tennis coaching:
In addition to working to recruit and provide lessons on my own, I have worked with the Savannah Yacht Club, Savannah Quarters Country Club and YMCA of Coastal Georgia, providing tennis instruction and team coaching to all levels of players, with the exception of high performance juniors. Worked closely with the Savannah Area Tennis Association, a nationally recognized CTA , providing cardiotennis, wheelchair tennis, and special needs tennis in addition to working with juniors and adults of all playing levels. My experience in Savannah has been positive, and I have continually sought out the advice and guidance of tennis pros with more experience and/or different coaching styles both in person and on the internet.
In my time in Savannah, I have participated in team coaching, large and small group instruction, organizing special events, round robins, fund raisers, tennis marathons, Special Olympics coaching, recreational coaching seminars, league tennis play and team building.
In 2006, I took and passed the USTA referee test.
2004-2001: New York City
New York Junior Tennis League:
Seasonally employed as a head pro and Site Director at various locations throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Responsible for recruiting and retaining junior players from the surrounding neighborhood, this challenging position was my first foray into running a program. Designing and implementing a plan for providing instruction for groups numbering anywhere from 15 to 80 children of varying age groups required fast thinking, and an ability to shift gears with little notice.
2001-1985:
Owned and/or Operated several successful optical stores in and around New York City. As an owner and or manager of these professional practices, I have developed a keen sense of customer service. Beginning my optical career as an apprentice in 1982, I learned my craft a step at a time, and under the tutelage of some of the most talented businessmen and practitioners, I honed my craft and became a modestly successful businessman.
1982-1978:
Seasonally employed by the City of New York Department of Parks to provide summer tennis camps for kids, aged 7 to 18.
Qualifications:
Certified by the PTR at the Instructor level in 2005.
Wheelchair certified in 2006
Education:
Graduated New Dorp High School, NYC , in 1982
Attended St John's University, as a part time student, from 1982-1985
