Professional Experience
Dec 2009 till Present
May 2007 till May 6th 2009
Network Support Engineer, AT&T, Bedminster, NJ
• Troubleshoot LAN using various protocols like RIP, Static and IGRP.
• Main responsibility is to resolve network and customer related issues through ATT’s online ticketing systems such as BMP, WMS and AOTS. A proactive tool called RUBY generates tickets in the queue which deals with issues on Cisco/Juniper/Lucent hardware and software.
• Dealt with input and output policy maps configuration, Be/Bc Burst parameters and VBR-NRT statements on RPMs, GSR, etc. if Customer reported QoS issues,
• Rebuilt PVCs by Deleting Layer2, Layer3, adding Layer3, Layer2 so as to adjust any mismatches in the VBT-NRT statements or sync up to the Customer settings, provided, permission to go intrusive is granted. This is done through AT&T’s proprietary tool called “ICORE”
• Conducted regular upgrades on Juniper MX960 routers from version 8.5 to 9.1a in Customer provided window for our VPLS/IPAG project
• Work with Cisco TAC support and Juniper Networks so as to troubleshoot network related issues and create RMAs in order to replace the defective equipments in AT&T’s Network which have been deployed worldwide
• Troubleshooting layer3 issues by using protocol BGP, MPLS, OSPF , EIGRP , Multicast etc
• Supporting upgrades of Juniper M320, T640 and cisco 12K , IOS XR and MGX.
• Responsible for switching the Processor cards and Service Modules in MGX45 and MGX01 switches in order to renew the uptime.
• Support customer calls for higher level escalations
• Troubleshooting PE devices for Juniper, Cisco 12K, MGX etc.
• On call support for 24/7
• Support to Tier 1 and Tier2 folks.
Advanced Technical Support (Tier3), AT&T, Middletown,NJ
• Troubleshoot wan related problems including OSPF, EIGRP, IGRP, and BGP and RIP routing and design; troubleshoot L3 related network problems.
• Project managed teams involved in Network support .
• Implementing and writing MOP on various issues. E.g. MOP for changing MTU size, Mop for changing existing OSPF area to new area. Etc.
• Involved in upgrades of various platform like RPM XF/XFL, GSR and RR upgrades.
• Investigating SDO(Short Duration Outages) for various customers.
• Tools used :ICore , ISC, BGP MON, OSPF MON, HDDS( Capacity Management), WIPM (packet loss detection), RCM
• Managed the project to implement OSPF mon server to various region.
• Managed to handle several Severity 1 cases.
• Involved in several NVT’s for various customers and troubleshooting issues related to NVT.
Testing in the Networking Lab:
• Testing/Deployment and support of ISP based services, Tested BGP/OSPF/LDP in AT&T based Lab.
• Various EBGP services like ORF, Peer groups, Route reflectors and various path attributes such as MED, Local preference..
• Used test tools such Adtech and Spirent data generators.
• Managed the project to Test NVT for various customers.
June 2005 – Dec’ 2006
Network Support Engineer, New York Institute of Technology, NY (GRA)
• Experience with complex IP network engineering /operations in a WAN environment.
• Created an OSPF simulator that could decode OSPF packet types and could monitor OSPF floods and raise alarms. It was a Linux based system with some off the shelf OSPF code.
• Evaluated OSPF flooding in complex scenarios and predicted OSPF control traffic volumes.
• Involved in a project of migrating the existing WAN infrastructure from a layer 3 back bone to MPLS using Carrier to carrier MPLS designs.
• BGP features such as load balancing, Route Reflectors, BGP metrics such as MED, AS-Path, Local Pref, Communities used.
• Used MP-BGP to create a MPLS VPN environment using both LDP and RSVP.
• Troubleshoot wan related problems including OSPF, EIGRP, IGRP, and BGP and RIP routing and design; troubleshoot L2/L3 related network problems.
• Project managed teams involved in Network support across NYIT. One of the projects I managed was Cisco IOS refresh of the entire campus LAN/WAN infrastructure.
