Experience:

George Visger is a wildlife biologist/environmental consultant and public speaker who specializes in CEQA/NEPA assessments, habitat restoration, storm water management and public presentations on environmental and health issues. His perseverance, tenacity and unwavering focus on goals is evident by his experience playing in the NFL, and overcoming life-threatening surgeries from his NFL injuries, while completing his bachelor’s degree in Biological Conservation. Mr. Visger has designed, managed and constructed mitigation banks and restoration projects, prepared Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Natural Resource Protection Plans, and presented at public forums and conducted environmental training sessions. George has more than 20 years experience conducting environmental assessments at a variety of sites throughout the Northwest, and is currently coordinating with large agricultural operations in the western U.S. regarding habitat and water quality improvements. He has owned and operated an environmental consulting business in the Sacramento area for a number of years where his responsibilities include technical expertise, quality assurance and financial oversight.

Mr. Visger taught environmental studies, biology, chemistry, algebra and coached football at the high school level for several years, and was a licensed Class B General contractor for over 10 years.

He attended the University of Colorado on a football scholarship, majoring in biology and played in the 1977 Orange Bowl. In 1980 he was the 149th pick of the NFL draft, and was a member of the 1981 San Francisco 49ers’ Super Bowl championship team before retiring in 1982 due to serious injuries. He earned a Class B General Contractors license in 1987 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Conservation in 1990.

Mr. Visger is very active in civic duties and conducts motivational/goal-setting speeches at schools and businesses, presents on behalf of the California Brain Injury Association, Hydrocephalus Associations, and traumatic brain injury survivors and has conducted Coaches Concussion Clinic seminars. He has been inducted into the Stagg High Hall of Fame for community involvement, the Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame twice, and has spoken to Congress and the California Senate regarding traumatic brain injuries and environmental issues. Mr. Visger is currently consulting directly with Dr. Ellenbogen, head of the NFL Head, Neck and Spine Injury Group regarding rule changes to provide better protection for players.

Additional Experience

Mr. Visger formerly was a licensed trapper in California, conducts nuisance beaver removal on California Department of Fish and Game permits, and owned and operated a hunting consulting business for many years.
