Objective
Seeking full time opportunity as an electrical engineer.
Education
M.S. in Electrical Engineering – Power systems (Anticipated graduation: Spring 2011)
Arizona State University, USA (GPA – 3.1)
B.E. in Electrical Engineering
Gujarat University, India (GPA – 3.9)
Work Experience
Intern Electrical Design Engineer (Stantec HVAC Consultants, India) August 2007 – June 2009
Performed calculations for Indoor lightening and outdoor lightening for 220V/110V AC systems.
Implemented AC load calculations, fault current calculations, required switchgear ratings and conduit
sizing for residential and commercial buildings. Prepared single line diagram (layout) for indoor and
outdoor lightening design using AUTOCAD 2007. Worked on design of low voltage system for
residential complexes (12 V system).
Independent Projects
LED Lighting (Independent Project) Spring 2007
Engineered circuitry and prepared design and layout of LED lighting system for small office space.
Hover Craft (Indian Institute of Technology – Madras) Fall 2007
As the team leader, supervised a team of five to prepare a hover craft prototype. Engineered the
circuitry and designed control circuit to lift and move the hover craft.
Course Work Projects
Residential, Industrial and Commercial Building Design (Gujarat University) Fall 2008
Designed load calculations, one line diagram (wiring design and calculations), and prepared
distribution layout for residential, industrial and commercial buildings using AUTOCAD 2007.
Designed low voltage system (Fire alarm system) for a small residential building.
Distribution Electric System (Arizona State University – Transmission and Distribution) Spring 2010
Completed power load calculations for a selected area of an urban region of India and prepared
design to erect area’s distribution network. Ratings of the switchgear were also included in the
distribution system’s design.
Design and Drafting (Gujarat University – Electrical Machine Design) Fall 2008
Designed winding type, electrical parameters, magnetic parameters and physical dimensions of the
three phase transformer. Used AutoCAD 2007 to prepare the design layout.
Power Flow Study (Arizona State University – Power System Analysis) Spring 2010
Analyzed the power flow and calculated the required switchgear rating of a power system by adding
faults to bus and overloading transmission lines using Power World Simulator. Impact on power
system was also analyzed by tripping and adding generating units to the system.
MultiMachine Stability (Arizona State University – Power System Stability) Fall 2009
Performed stability studies using DSA tools for a multi machine system and compared those results
with the mathematical model developed using MATLAB.
Certifications
FE/EIT exam scheduled in April. Working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), International
Electrical Code (ICC) and IEEE codes and standards.
