2002-Present: SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER GenOn Energy Corporation Pittsburg, CA

Responsible for maintaining environmental regulatory and corporate compliance for three gas-burning power plants in the San Francisco Bay Area and supporting corporate development projects.

• Supervised hazardous waste handling and disposal; ground water monitoring and soil remediation programs; OPA 90 compliance; oil storage and oily waste processing systems and permits, environmental laboratory operations; and wetlands and endangered species protection programs without regulatory citation or corporate audit findings.

• Managed environmental work in support of an Application for Certification to the California Energy Commission for the building of a new power generating facility leading to approval for construction that is presently underway.

• Developed an Environmental Management Systems program for Mirant’s Western Business Unit currently used by all GenOn west facilities.

• Managed the clean-closing two onsite RCRA TSDF units receiving agency certification of closure on an accelerated track.

• Acted as the Corporate Program Leader for the implemented a compliance tracking software system to both gas and coal fired power plants in the GenOn fleet.

Served as a Program Manager for an Exxon Mobile soil and groundwater remediation project for that focused on historic contamination from leaking underground storage tanks in over 50 Northern California and Nevada locations.

• Australian Coal Research Institute Laboratory and the University of Wollongong - Contract assignments focused on coal industry related issues of water and air pollution.

• Southern California Edison - Long-term study correlating air pollution data with selected mortality statistics in several Northern and Southern California counties.

• Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory - Working within their environmental compliance group, performed various levels of environmental assessment under NEPA and CEQA for new and non-compliant laboratory operations and facilities. Participated in permitting a waste facility under RCRA and assisted in an audit of buried chemical tanks.

• City of Redding, California - Managed and largely authored a CEQA California State Environmental Assessment for the redevelopment of a blighted community.

• Commission of the European Communities Joint Research Centre Ispra, Italy - Investigated the implementation of environmental criteria by the individual countries within the European Economic Community. Conducted a regulatory comparison of the European environmental effort versus that of the United States.

1979 - 1986 : SENIOR ENGINEER Bechtel Engineering Group Inc. San Francisco, CA

Managed and performed environmental compliance and geotechnical tasks on engineering projects of both small and large scope for the government and private sector.

• Coordinated environmental compliance for the Dupont Savannah River Nuclear Project waste disposal and incineration effort. Responsibilities included coordinating construction and design engineering to ensure regulatory compliance and avoid project delay. Designed a software program to interface environmental requirements with construction drawing control.

• Developed a permitting strategy document for ARCO Four Corners Pipeline Company, Los Angeles. Negotiated with State and County agencies and represented ARCO at public hearings. Performed similar functions permitting two alternative energy development facilitates in Hawaii; also participated in compiling NEPA Environmental Impact Statements for both facilities and siting evaluations.

• Developed an environmental field program for construction of a US Borax mine access road through a National Forest detailing field inspection procedures and reporting relationships for field construction and agency personnel.

• Permitted several small fuel pipelines for Southern Pacific Pipeline Company and prepared Environmental Assessments under the CEQA.

• Managed a permit acquisition program for Kennecot Minerals Company, Chino Mines and directed the engineering design of a zero discharge facility.

•1977 - 1979 : JUNIOR GEOLOGIST Cooper Clark and Associates Novato, CA

Performed detailed field mapping, slope stability and erosion potential analysis, geophysical and seismic studies, environmental hazard evaluations, and extensive research related to the construction of geothermal well pad sites, steam transmission lines, access roads, and commercial developments in the western United States.
