EDUCATION Master of Science (M.S.) in Industrial Engineering, State University of New York, Binghamton, NY, August 2008. Thesis: Improving the Reliability of a Robotic Dispensing System using Design of Experiments

Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Mumbai University, India, June 2006, First Class

WORK EXPERIENCE

Feb ’09-Present Analytical Test Engineer: Full-time position, working with Innovation Associates, Johnson City, NY.

Conducting mechanical tests and performing subsequent statistical data analysis in support of product performance

• Performing in-house tests and analyzing the statistical data to improve the overall efficiency of all Robotx dispensers

• Collecting statistical data from all dispensers shipped to various locations (pharmacies or hospitals) and making required calibration changes to ensure that each dispenser is counting pills accurately

• Analyzing the performance of all dispensers at a specific location. Subsequently deciding if calibration changes are sufficient or whether the dispenser needs to be shipped back to be tested in-house. Different locations are analyzed each week

Jan ‘07-June ‘08 Graduate Research Associate: State University of New York at Binghamton, New York, working with Innovation Associates, Johnson City, NY.

Improved the reliability of Robotx (Robotic Dispensing System) by reducing the machine error rates 10-fold from 2% to 0.2%

• Analyzed the current reliability (in terms of error rates) of the Robotx machine

• Closely scrutinized field reports and service calls to identify the actions taken by field engineers once the machine is shipped to the field

• Performed intensive data analysis by formulating charts, created pivot tables etc using the Excel software. Also, developed a framework for regular statistical analysis and prepared technical reports

• Using the techniques of Root Cause Analysis and FMEA, developed fault tree diagrams to identify all potential factors causing errors in the machine

• Analyzed the cause of errors encountered in the field by replicating them in machines tested in-house

• Recommended various feasible actions/strategies to reduce the machine-related and human-related errors which may occur due to improper machine handling by the customer

• Designed and conducted a series of experiments (DOE) to identify and test critical components affecting errors in the machine

Formulated and documented step-wise work procedures for each sub-assembly and all major assemblies of the machine to streamline manufacturing process

• Extremely user-friendly and thus could even be used by individuals lacking prior experience in machine assembly

Reported the research updates to upper management and executive team through a management presentation on a weekly basis

Nov ‘08-Jan ‘09 Volunteer: American Red Cross, Endicott, NY

By using Forecasting techniques, estimated the amount of funding required for the facility

• Through time series methods of exponential smoothing and moving average, on the basis of historical data, was able to predict near future funds required to run various operations in the facility

Prepared charts to illustrate activities of various departments within the organization and recommended changes to simplify work methods

Aug ‘05-May ‘06 Project Intern: Elcome Marine Services Private Ltd., Mumbai, India

Designed and fabricated a portable anemometer

AWARDS

• Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

• Received research assistantship award during Masters’ studies

• Stood 3rd for a technical paper titled “Effect of Heat-treatment on Micro-structural Properties of Ti Alloy” presented at the National Level Students’ Technical Symposium at NIT, Tiruchirapalli, 2005
