Projects:
Cisco IOS upgrade testing, validation and implementation
Every two years Chrysler infrastructure goes through an IOS code refresh along with the deployment of latest management template. This required simulating the Chrysler network at the CVO lab
My responsibility was to upgrade Cisco 6500/4500/3750/28xx switches in 5 data centers,10 plant sites and 128 supplier sites
1. Simulate the Office Area which required hardware installation such as chassis, line cards and fiber patching and installation of the current software code.
2. Apply current management template to the environment.
3. Coordinate the execution of a series of tests against this environment.
4. After successful completion, upgrade to the latest Cisco recommended code.
5. Execute the same set of tests and validate against previous data for consistency.
6. Document all issues and abnormalities for investigation and future reference.
During Production Implementation:
1. Coordinated with Plant Project Manager to identify Pilot sites to implement IOS upgrades and validated the results. Project Manager was responsible to coordinate/communicate testing with applications and global hosting groups.
2. After successful pilot, sites were identified in phases and IOS was implemented.
Cisco Unified Wireless Network (CUWN) Deployment:
My responsibility was role out the WLAN network in the existing Wired network . Key roles and accountabilities were to:
1. Gather requirements from Wireless Network group.
2. Simulate the 6500 Core switches and 3750 access switches for WLAN network
3. Install and configure WISM card in Cisco 6500 switch and assigned VLANs
4. Co-ordinate user acceptance testing to validate proper operation.
MPLS migration project
I was engaged in the planning and implementation phases of this project. Requirement was to move about plant frame-relay sites to MPLS. This project also required configuring BGP on core routers in order to establish connection to CE routers also applying QoS (MQC) at remote sites to allocate appropriate bandwidth for video, data & management traffic, as well as prioritize voice traffic.
