DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION (2006 – 2010) • SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT (2002 – 2005)
Headed up to eight new construction projects simultaneously with values approaching $30M, overseeing the successful completion from site development to turnover. Supervised up to 10 direct reports, and established positive working relationships with City government personnel during planning and development stages. Key member of Executive Committee involved in community development, planning, and permitting.
Key highlights
• Circumvented costly delays and potential shutdowns to the project-adjacent Bay Area Rapid Transit station subsequent to the discovery that the site was contaminated.
- Requested to take over the project, and effectively coordinated the containment/disposal of multiple unknown hazardous conditions with no delays or power interruptions to the BART system while keeping the project on schedule.
• Leveraged expert negotiation skills to reduce more than $235K in temporary power costs each year, from $875 per lot to $295 per lot – for every project.
• Instilled a culture of safety and security on all projects that provided substantial cost savings and boosted the Division’s Safety & Quality Assurance ratings with the risk management insurer.
• Rescued a potential project delay of up to six months, $750K in reengineering and administrative costs, and $500K in fees to the project-adjacent landowner.
- Communicated with precision and impact to the City, Engineering firm, and private landowners the benefits of redesigning a state highway right-of-way to effectively accommodate an underground gas piping re-route.
