SOFTWARE ENGINEER March 2006 – Oct 2006
Lead Software Architect for the Next Generation Optiview product. Responsibilities involved architecting a uniform design and code base containing HMI, Controls, Communication and Reliability components. Implemented a business strategy to bring multiple product code bases under one unified modular approach to reduce costs and make a more efficient and cost-effective code base. Created HMI architecture to work on flat panel displays to be used in high performance industrial environments, which were easy to navigate and user friendly.
Additional responsibilities included conducting R&D research on potential technologies that could be used in future versions of the product. This research was used to analyze the new technology, establish cost justification, resource allocation, and practicality - documented project plans and project schedules.
• Evaluated operating systems, and tools sets from an R&D perspective such as QNX Neutrino, Ecos, RTLinx, Metasys, Labview and Mathworks Simulink, allowing an educated decision be made regarding platform design
• Designed an architecture that focused on the Model View Controller pattern, which provided a cost savings design.
• Worked closely with other senior associates from Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Marketing and Service to establish a general team consensus on product strategy.
• Held weekly meeting to inform management on progress of project.
• Conducted monthly metrics on worked hours associated with project to ensure project was being kept under budget.

I was required to have a working knowledge of electrical and hardware drawing schematics. My responsibilities included creating and maintaining engineering drawings for the Becton Dickinson Patient Identification System (P.I.S.) in AutoDesk’s Mechanical Desktop, while maintaining BD’s drawing standards. In addition I incorporated these drawings into the QDMS software system and submitted and monitoring engineering change orders. Worked with the quality control department to resolve all issues with the product, and worked with vendors to ensure compliance with BD standards.
• •Analyzed and engineered embedded software for the following Information Systems: Mysis (formally known as Sunquest); Cerner; HBOC; Meditech; SMS. Which provided custom software solutions to each individual situation.
• •Created applications that received two or more data streams from two or more different information systems within the same application, allowing barcode label printers to be utilized in multiple settings in a hospital environment with maximum efficiency.
• Programmed for HL7 Interface.
• •Traveled to customer sites to provide professional technical service and support.
• •Attended Six Sigma training classes to help improve quality.
