Memphis Commercial Appeal Newspaper: I have worked for the newspaper’s I.T. department since 1982. I am responsible for various duties and jobs. I worked night
shift when the newspaper was being printed and was on duty to troubleshoot and repair problems in order to get the issue resolved as quickly as possible. This was mostly an extended Help Desk type of position. I was solely responsible the last six years with keeping all computer and electronic equipment running. We run Dell Servers with Windows OS, use ethernet cable to equipment such as printers, copiers, PC’s, scanners and specialized equipment that is unique to the newspaper production, such as typesetters, plate makers, page makeup software running on PC’s. We also install routers and hubs. I was also a liaison to the system administrators in our I.T. department. When a problem was diagnosed I would determine which administrator to call. Then I could carry out any duties or instructions they had. I also worked on all peripheral equipment related to the work environment. I performed some nightly computer operations such as running reports and billing jobs for the business side of the paper.
Education:
Graduated from State Technical Institute of Memphis in 1982. Associate Degree in
Computer Engineering Technology.
Graduated from Memphis Catholic High School in 1977.
