Description

Northstar is a product meant for providing a GPS Navigation based Vehicle Tacking, Personal Tracking and School bus safety solution where in clients( vehicle owners/parents/ employers) will get SMS facilities about the current location and approximate time of arrival to the destination. A web based user interface is provided to track the vehicle or the person live.

GPS records, generated by devices installed in vehicles are parsed to get different GIS information, which will be processed to find the current location and speed of the vehicle. Huge amount of historic data, traffic information is processed to compute approximate time of arrival to a destination

Technologies Used:

Server side code written in Java 1.6. Web based user interface was developed using JSP/Servlet. Spring with ibatis used for ORM support,

PostgreSQL and PostGIS for Database. JADE Agent based architecture is used for different server monitoring. The environment is hosted in Amazon Cloud.

Responsibilities

As a software engineer in the development team, I along with my team was responsible for developing the product.

Requirement gathering and data analysis is a part of my job.

Explore new technologies to meet the system needs.

Responsible for adding new modules along with maintenance of existing code base.

Testing the whole application end to end.

Monitoring the production during up hours.
