As part of the network management staff, developed and managed projects and strategies to provide an efficient network of a Less than Truckload carrier with over 300+ facilities.
• Directed a $150 million annual inter-modal rail operation network.
• Initiated a change from private equipment to domestic containers that reduced the capital requirement for additional equipment and the need to reposition empty equipment reducing overall rail cost by $15 million annually.
• Negotiated rates and contracts with the major rail companies providing reduced rates during the economic downturn saving $5 million annually in rail expense.
• Managed and implemented the process and administration for the use of electronic toll transponders on the dif-ferent toll roads throughout the US with a $12+ million annual spend. • Directed initiatives that fundamentally reengineered the company’s logistic network to reduce miles, improve quality and increase the use of inter-modal rail as a substitute for standard truck transportation reducing overall operating cost annually by $10 million.
• Managed a fleet of 25,000+ trailers with the responsibility of the distribution of the fleet to meet the operational volume needs of the network terminals. Managed the use of one way trailers that provided the needed trailers to facilities while reducing empty rail reposition miles with an annual savings of $1.6 million.
• Managed a staff of 4 project managers that worked with field operations and underachieving facilities on the use of best practices, which achieved a reduction in overall empty miles and reduced idle time of hourly work-ers with an operational cost savings of $600K annually.
