Material Engineer, Aker Solutions, Houston, Texas, USA, Jan. 2006 – Present

Provide technical support in metallurgy, material selection, welding, cathodic protection and corrosion control; Support internal routine inquires.

Responsible for project material review, identify corrosion issue, and choose suitable materials for subsea wellhead, trees, risers, manifolds, tie-in connection systems, and associated well controls components.

Prepared technical reports for three projects, two FEED studies, presentation and clarification for multi-tenders/projects, and communicated with clients and suppliers.

Communicate with different groups, investigate new materials, coatings and their potential applications on the R&D projects.

Acting as local representative in Company’s Global material standardization and product network.

Provide technical support to procurement, supply chain, quality control department, review vendor quotation, and solve non-conformance reports.

Research Assistant, University of Houston, Houston, Texas, USA, Jan. 2001 – Dec. 2005

Performed research on nano-sized bimetallic nano-particles, and investigated their microstructure and the size effect on their performance.

Synthesized nano- Y2BaCuO5 (Y211) particles as the starting precursor for fabrication of melt-textured YBCO large grain to improve its trapped field and critical current density (JC).

Investigated salt content, surfactant type, water content, and temperature effect on the phase transformation in water-oil multi-phase systems.

Conducted failure analysis of coatings in alkaline and other chemically aggressive environments.

Material Engineer, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), Beijing, P.R. China, Apr. 1996 – Dec. 2000

Conducted failure and corrosion analysis for various polymer-based coating materials under harsh environments, such as high water pressure, high salt concentration and large freeze-thaw cycles.

Developed a new in-situ spraying method for polyurethane type of thermal insulation coating.

Studied the degradation mechanism of concrete or polymer materials under the attack of sulfate and chloride solutions.

Supervised the mechanical, and microstructure testing in the Materials Center of the Ministry of Water Resources of China.

Research Assistant, Hebei University of Technology, Tianjin, China, 1993 – 1996

Developed a new photosensitive polyimide (PSPI) with high photosensitivity and low dielectric constant for photolithography in microelectronics.

Studied PSPI’s UV absorption electric, adhesion properties and structure of PSPI.

Investigated the lithography process, including substrate cleaning, operating of lithography, the UV exposure time, and solvent used.
