Hardware/Tools Sales Associate- Sales Associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. Sales associates have an emphasis on department and product knowledge, providing information on product features, and knowing related items to sell an entire project. Associates in this position know how to greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments. A Sales Associate in the Hardware department should have product knowledge that includes, but is not limited to the following areas: Different types/uses of power tools and hand tools, different types/applications/sizes of fasteners, ability to explain how to anchor things to different wall types, ability to identify and locate a variety of bolts, screws, and nails, cabinetry and door hardware. A Sales Associate in the Hardware department will also use various equipment and machinery to cut keys, rope and chain, in addition to re-keying locks
