Qualifications
I have my Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science form University of MS Medical Center. I also hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Science. I am an ASCP certified Clinical Laboratory Scientist . My areas of study included disciplines in : microbiology, hematology, immunology, serum chemistry, and immunohematology. I am capable of using manual and automated laboratory equipment (give examples of equipment used) I have good laboratory practice and safety. I have experience in performing QA/QC. I am proficient with computer programs such as WordPerfect, Excel, and PowerPoint. I am a dependable worker, punctual, I work well with others and can work independently with minimum supervision.
Relevant Experience
My experience includes over a year and a half of working in an actual hospital laboratory at Central Mississippi Medical Center. I was a laboratory generalist responsible for various tests such as blood typing, micro bacteria identification, red and white blood cell differentials, urinalysis screens etc. and the recording of the results of hospital patient tissue/fluid samples. I performed tests using automated instrumentation like the Coulter 500 and 750 series Dimensions and Centaur. In hematology my responsibilities included CBCD, Urinalysis and Body Fluid analysis Coagulation, FDP, Group B and Cryptococcal antigen testing. In microbiology my responsibilities included plating patient samples for culture and sensitivity test, preparing cultures for aerobic and anaerobic blood cultures and fecal occult blood testing. In immunohemotology I was responsible for blood typing and screening patients for antibodies, and preparing blood and various other blood components for patient use. In chemistry my responsibilities included running and monitoring basic and comprehensive chemistry tests, troponin and cardiac markers, HIV, B-12, folate PSA, and Hepatitis B batch testing.

Other Experience
I participated for two years consecutively in the Renal Clinic Fair sponsored by the Jackson Medical Mall. The tasks that I performed include the following: venipuncture and blood collection, measurement of blood glucose levels and centrifuging blood samples for testing and statistical purposes. I have also attended workshops given by Mississippi Blood Services where I was instructed on how to perform antibody screens (for what disease agents) and how to interpret antibody panels. I also have some working knowledge of molecular diagnostics, mainly in the area of PCR. I also received special emergency training for cardiac arrest patients in which I performed blood gases and chemistry tests using a portable I-Stat monitoring device and I’ve received training for trauma patients in which I issued emergency blood and blood components for trauma patients.
