Dear Sir/Madam:

In December of 2007 I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Following that I spent a lot of time traveling around the country and then began looking for jobs. Due to the poor economic situation and the lack of available jobs I decided to work for a few months teaching music at Gainesville’s only non-profit music school. However, I’ve recently quit that to focus on my engineering job search and I am very eager to put my education to use.

While attending college I studied the following courses which may be of interest to your company; Analog and Digital Circuitry, Microprocessors, Software Development, Digital Signal Processing, Solid-State Devices, and more. In addition to that I had an internship with Peavey Electronics, one of the world’s largest audio equipment manufacturers. My duties as an intern were to shadow and assist engineers, watching and learning from them as they worked and helping them out when I was needed. In my downtime I took the initiative and designed and built two analog guitar effects pedals. This was not required of me and was purely for my own enjoyment and learning. Aside from my school and work experience I have many other interests which form the foundation of a well rounded person, including but surely not limited too; music, bicycle riding/fitness, and reading/writing.

I believe my education and experience have provided me with a good foundation to grow on in the work environment. I strongly desire to put these talents to use with your company. I look forward to meeting with you and discussing your organization’s needs in more detail. Thank you for taking the time to review this cover letter and the attached resume.

Sincerely,

Ryan Murray
