Description
Ballistic materials play a vital role in defence applications for providing protection against specified projectiles. They are used as a primary material in the manufacturing of bullet proof vests and armored fighting vehicle. The energy absorption and failure mechanism in ballistics material so complicated. Hence, failure analysis of these materials under impact load conditions has become an important study to qualify them for defence applications. Impact phenomenon is a very complicated process in which the performance depends on many parameters like duration of the impact; kinetic energy; velocity of projectile; the properties of target and the projectile materials. Based on the projectile impact velocity, the impact phenomenon is categorized into low, medium, high and hyper velocity impacts. For the present study, Glass fiber Reinforced in polyster matrix is considered as a Ballistic material. This ballistics material is subjected to medium velocity impact having velocity of around 350m/sec by means of 9mm pistol and low velocity impact having of around 100m/sec by means of gas gun experimental set up.

My Role and Responsibility :
Used Radiography testing methodologies to find out good and non-good welded portions like pores, blow holes and minor cracks on the welded portions of the metal.
Inspected the occurence of oxide scale on the boiler during geometrical dimension measurements.
Identified key defects like discontinuity,spatters,coldshut and minor issues through VT,MT and PT methodologies.
Identified bond integrity testing and FRP layers structures on the composite material through TTT and PET techniques.(ie., PINAKA ROCKET TUBE)
Observed mechanical properties for different types of materials.(Hardness testing and Tensile strength)
I carried out an inspection work in respect of high silica fabric cloth to find out the material properties such ac physical and chemical properties.
With the help of CMM machine(Coordinate Machine Measurement)with the model of accurate make spectra 5.8.4 model with TP 200 low force module touch trigger probe.I had checked the three dimensional aspects (profile,size etc)of silica tile for SRE (Space Capsule Recovery experiment)and RLV-TD which has been installed by M/S Valeth High Tech composites Private Ltd.
Using AUS (Acousto Ultrasonic System)inspected the silca silica composite billets for the measurement of sound velocity through the test speciemen in single and dual transducers.This silca billets mainly being used in high temperature insulation billet is based on amorphous high silica of the technology from ISRO which is an important and critical material and is an essential for re-emtry vehicles due to its high insulation property and low density.
