Outbound Operations and Warehouse Manager
Outbound Operations Manager for a wholesale import company. Imported Bronze, Marble, Furniture, Lamps, Rugs, and accessories from all over the world. Responsible for all shipments to customers, our stores, showrooms and distribution centers. Coordinated the prioritization of all outbound shipments, to include assembly of mirrors and fine art.
Scheduled the picking, staging, packing and loading of full trailers of merchandise and directly supervised the loading to ensure the load was packed properly and in a manner that would allow all commodities to arrive without damage or shortages.
I initially was hired as the company’s first Warehouse Manager. I spent my first five years developing the warehouse and the day to day operations. I was responsible for the hiring, training, safety, discipline and termination of all warehouse personnel. I wrote job descriptions for all warehouse positions, developed department supervisors, and served as a “hands on” manager in all aspects of the warehouse operation. The warehouse grew from 23 personnel to over 85 personnel in ten years. The square footage expanded from 95K sq. ft. to over 150K sq. ft., as we added on to the existing facility three different times. During this same timeframe our gross sales went from 15 million a year to over 50 million a year. I also served as the company Safety Coordinator, I wrote the company safety manual, conducted safety training for new hires, held monthly and quarterly safety meetings. I implemented a Quarterly Safety Award, $25.00 per individual, for any department that had zero injuries for that quarter. This resulted in a dramatic reduction in both minor injuries and OSHA reportable accidents.
United States Army 05/1974 to 02/1996
Orlando, Florida
Served in the United States Army for over twenty years and honorably retired. My last assignment was as a Supply Accountability Technician for a Military Intelligence Battalion (Low Intensity), located here in Orlando. I served as the Logistics expert and was responsible for the requisition, receipt, storage, issue and disposition of $ 300 million dollars worth of supplies and equipment. I utilized both automated and manual property accountability procedures, as well as implemented proper loss documentation based on regulatory guidelines. During my career I served various assignments with units such as the 82d Airborne Division, the 10th Special Forces Group and 470th Military Intelligence Brigade. While serving with these distinguished units I was required to have a Top Secret security clearance.
