SENIOR FACILITY ENGINEER

Eni has now fully acquired the First Calgary Petroleum and responsible for Oil & gas exploration and production in all over the world. I am responsible for providing engineering expertise in facility engineering to the Company for the developing Projects like Gas Processing Plant, production enhancement, pipelines, LNG and developing new projects in all areas of upstream and downstream in close coordination with international consultant and contractors.

Competitive FEED study for Oil production facility, Prepared scope of work definition for in-house and contracted FEED, BASIC engineering, and project engineering for design a 50,000 B/D crude oil plant. Facilities scope includes everything from those at well-sites to crude fractionation to export of product along with all associated remote-site utilities and infrastructure. Simultaneously executed projects with two contractors and keeping close eye to complete this FEED study within 22 weeks.

Key Achievement: Completed competitive FEED in parallel with 2 contractors cost of US$6 million each of other basic engineering in over a 4 month period with no lost-time, on-schedule and on-budget.

FEED study for Gas field to add Inlet Gas Compressor’s, provided technical input and prepared detailed SOW where addition of Turbo Gas compressors for contractor to develop study. Developed the strategy to prepare ITT package for LLI and prepared documentation to initiate the procurements for compressors. Coordinated with Compressor vendor’s for all technical clarifications. Coordinated all aspects related to compressor selection, design, installation, commissioning and start-up planning.

Supervising a team of engineers for reviewing contractor studies and deliverables to ensure consistency with all aspects of the project, and providing technical leadership during FEED studies.

Feasibility and FEED study for Gas processing plant De-bottlenecking, provided guidance and input for developing the basis of design, preparation of process package and project specification activities in respect of the plant, pipeline and major heavy-duty equipment specifications specially Turbo Compressors. Closely worked with international Contractors and sub-contractors for developing the studies. Based as Resident engineer in Contractor premises to technically responsible for a significant amount of activity, focusing on FEED, procurement and fabrication for and onshore oil field facilities upgrade project.

Pre-feasibility & Feasibility study for a New LNG plant, Involved with engineering contractor to develop the basis and documents to develop the feasibility for next stage. Also based as resident engineer in Contractor’s office, Act as main client interface for the smooth execution of studies.

Communicate and interface with contractor to ensure all project deliverables are achieved in line with Scope of Work.

QATAR PETROLEUM, REFINERY MESAIEED. Sep. 2000 to June 2006

DESIGN ENGINEER

Worked as Design Engineer in Maintenance Engineering Support Team of QP Refinery. As a result of job analysis during re-organization of department, the position of Facility Engineer was re-defined and named as Design Engineer. My job responsibilities include providing active support to Operation, Maintenance and workshop on engineering issues and project management of all Plant / facility Modifications in the area. I was responsible for providing engineering services to the Company for Projects and Plant/Facility Modification Requests in all areas of engineering works. The work involves front-end and detailed engineering, preparation of engineering reports, evaluation of consultants and contractors, co-ordination with local/foreign consultants, contractors and vendors and ensuring that designs are in compliance with the latest Codes, Standard, National and Corporate requirements and Procedures. Liaison with Project Engineers, other Discipline Engineers and End Users in order to develop cost effective, safe and fit-for-purpose design solutions to meet corporate requirements, is a significant part of my job responsibilities. Establish design philosophies, standardization, and guidelines; establish and manage outside engineering resources; prepare and implement systems and procedures; control engineering drawings and other documents.

Handled Major Jobs:

Design LPG Bottling Facility provided guidance and input for developing the basis of design, preparation of process package and project specification activities in respect of the plant, pipeline and major heavy-duty equipment specifications

LAB Project LAB (Linear Alkyl Benzene) project, which is new addition to Qatar Petroleum Refinery. Duties include co-ordination of relevant FEED Package with consultant (Foster Wheeler Energy), Evaluation of bids and investigate local and foreign contractor queries and site clarification. It is a state-of-art UOP technology and is being implemented on a FAST TRACK.

Shutdown planning and procurement of revamp equipments. Prepared the specifications & tender documents for Heat Exchanger, Air cooler, and Vessels etc & retrieved all related vendor documents for existing equipments.

Qatax 50,000 bbl Jet Fuel Storage Tanks: Review the design of two Jet Fuel storage tanks at Mesaieed (50,000 BBL each) and 2 other tanks as per API 650, along with its associated piping and pipeline to jetty with pumping systems monitor of pipeline commissioning etc

Refinery expansion project, which is developed to accommodate the integration of the new units and system with existing facilities. Involved in Pre-commissioning and commissioning phases on newly installed plant and related equipments and its piping. Verified the piping tie-in points for shutdown. Provided technical clearance/decisions for site variation. Used PDS (Plant Design system) 3D model software to monitor the flexibility and access in plant.

Developed & implemented drawing office procedure

Trained in SAP related Plant Maintenance Modules and Daily issues of SAP notifications and progress for ongoing jobs.

UNION TEXAS PETROLEUM (UTPI), Pakistan. April 1996 to Aug 2000

SENIOR DESIGNER

Union Texas Pakistan Inc. is now a wholly owned affiliate of BP E&P Pakistan (British Petroleum). Company is engaged in Oil & Gas exploration and production in Pakistan.

Overall Responsibilities in the Technical Services department included develop pipeline specifications, plant modifications request, re-vamping, conceptual design, development and planning of projects related to oil & gas facilities including piping, pipeline. In charge of drafting office and responsible for all the engineering documentation correspondences. Management and updating Electronic Data Library (EDL) containing approximately 11,000 Auto CAD drawings. Also updating engineering procedures, practices, codes and standards related to engineering, construction and documentation control. Liaison with other sections to ensure that adequate quality assurance is maintained on equipment supplied, repaired both in house and contractor work.

Major accomplishments

Front-end / detailed engineering, with developing P&Ids, Piping Iso and Piping GA with design basis of

50 MMSCFD Golarchi compression project.

10 MMSCFD Wellhead compressor projects.

5 MMSCFD each Mazari and Tangri associated gas compression projects.

Designing of 2-inch to 8-inch diameter and up to 8 kms long well flow lines.

Designing of wellhead surface piping.

Designing of oil and gas gathering systems, including remote facilities and processing facilities in which Designed site layout of new oil/gas remote facilities and their related piping.

Designing of Mazari, North Akri, Ghungroo and Paniro salt-water disposal system up-grades project included installation of Production & test Separators, jet pumps, manifold, rectangular skid mounted storage tanks, loading dock, skim tank, generator & instrument air compressors including its piping, tie-in etc.

Team member of 30 MMcfd Amine Plant Commissioning team

Project in-charge of entire Badin Block oil and Gas facilities As Built P&IDs.

Project Management of ASME coded pressure vessels, Crude oil storage and produced water holding tanks refurbishment.

During my association with UTPI, I also got the opportunity to be work with;

FIELD PRODUCTION OPERATIONS where represent Technical services in artificial lift systems (e.g. jet pumps & gas lift) and remote facilities, construction, maintenance and down-hole activities. Commissioning of production and services related projects in the zone.

CORROSION ENGINEERING

Work involved corrosion monitoring of pipelines, tanks, pressure vessels and other plant piping equipment. Determined the thickness data by Ultrasonic Transducer on pressure vessels, tanks, pipelines and well. Also involved in Corrosion Monitoring system at (Amine Plant) where stainless steel piping used.
