¬Professional Experience
John Wiley & Sons, Somerset, NJ May 2009 to Present
Lead Systems Developer (Full-time Employee)
Wiley is a global publisher of print and electronic products, specializing in scientific, technical, medical and scholarly journals, encyclopedias, books, and online products and services; professional/trade books, subscription products, training materials, and online applications and websites; and educational materials for undergraduate and graduate students and lifelong learners..
Responsibilities:
• Prepare functional specifications for new business requirements and enhancements.
• Work with third party vendors for major Distribution Fulfillment projects.
• Joint management of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) project across multiple phases that involved design and implementation for order fulfillment, returns processing, and data communications with vendors. Designed, coded, and enhanced logic for RFID functionality for conveyor systems, small parcel systems, and returns processing stations. The RFID project spans four facilities and includes subsidiary operations in Canada and Singapore.
• Worked on major warehouse management system (WMS) implementation between client and third party distribution vendor.
• Designed, coded, tested, job setup, implemented and presented credit card encryption-decryption processes. This assignment was very important component in moving JWS forward in achieving PCI compliance. One very important aspect of this effort included a new method for re-encryption of customer credit card numbers resulting in an encryption process that would not allow visibility to the encryption key.
• Unit and integration testing, preparation of test results documents, verification and validation of final solutions. Coordinate issue resolution with team members to ensure stable launch to production environment.
• Took initiative to reduce the time of data receiving from PAVE (RFID vendors) from 72 hours to 15 min. Worked with our 3rd. party providers (MOBILEXE & EXTOL) to completely rewrite the E2E. This involved XML schema writing.
• Successfully Simplified, recoded a very complex "spaghetti like" process that directly supported the send of ASN data to our global subsidiary partners (Australia) from both the USDC and RRD. This allowed Australia to vastly improve their receiving process for global partner shipments.
• Work as on-call person to support systems & processes 24x7.
• Involved in designing and creating logical files and physical files with DB2.
• Use structured programming input/output and logic control operations.
• Involved in designing and creating reports, often for senior management data analyses.
• Involved in data FTP communications to and from different systems.
• Validate and manipulate data using SQL.
• Develop new programs using SYNON, RPG, ILE, and CL/400 for the AS/400 platform.
• Develop complex sub-files which handle multiples files simultaneously.
• Carry out detailed analyses of existing systems developed on AS/400 using I-SERIES and CL.
• Transport developed and changed modules to test and production environments using change management tools and resolve associated complex issues.
