Provided core expertise to customers in understanding their energy usage as well as maintaining control of their premises environmental variables like Temperature, Humidity and Lighting. Assisted in troubleshooting a Cement/Brick control system over 30 years old with prints in German and a PLC system dating back to 1980, saving the customer around $15K dollars of daily loss productivity.
● Provided Technical Support/Consulting in upgrading a 50MWatt thermo-electric plant Digital Control Systems in Ecuador-South America (to the local Electric Company in Guayaquil). The proposed upgrade was to install an AB-Rockwell all digital bus communicating system in-lue of their analog ABB system for their 3 main thermo-electric generators and boilers.
● Provided Consulting work for Several Companies in Central America for Security and Energy Analysis Control. Responsible for providing consulting for Security and Energy Improvements on Empacadora Santa Inez, Honduras-Central America. As part of this work, we provided a detail analysis on their Screw Ammonia Refrigeration systems which were using up to 70% of their total plant electrical consumption and offered the installation of a SCADA system with new control algorithms for optimum Start-Time and environmental variable control.

Senior Lead Automation Supervisor
Lead design and implementation of sophisticated BAS systems for a pharmaceutical site in the control of pressure, temperature and humidity for the manufacturing and research of vaccines.
● Collaborated with the administration, improvement, and support of the Merck West Point BAS systems (Building Automation System). Lead the technical support group for approximately 80 buildings on their BAS systems and with a yearly budget of 1 million dollars.
● Assisted in implementing change control procedures in cGMP BAS systems controlling Temp, Rh, and Pressure in drug manufacturing buildings. Assisted QA personnel in providing technical expertise in system operation and system validation.
● Designed a fully redundant fault-tolerant cluster BAS system using the Apogee product from SIEMENS. Lead the team responsible for installing the first cluster based and fully cGMP validated BAS system with redundant servers and fault-tolerance cluster capability. This system was responsible for the savings of approximately $50K a month in loss time and clean room sterilization due to pressure loss in high particle count rooms. This was a fully cGMP qualified project.
● Managed contractors as well as hourly personnel in troubleshooting and improving existing BAS networks. Lead hourly union personnel in specific repairs/modifications of the existing BAS networks to include HVAC field-end devices, always maintaining a good working relation with Union personnel and their policies.
● Provided technical expertise in creating new BAS LAN’s. Coordinated with Management on new BAS networks or modifications to existing automation lines bringing superior knowledge into the subject matter with in-house resources.

Sr. Systems Supervisor for Building Automation and Engineering
Managed a team of approximately 50 hourly personnel in day to day operations for facilities HVAC, Fire, and Security management and control systems.
● Managed the entire Merck Pharmaceutical HQ’s campus (over 4,000 employees on site) for their BAS, Security and Fire systems. Provided supervision and management for all electrical and HVAC operations under Site Engineering to include a sophisticated 30,000 I/O (Input-Output) system energy network.
● Managed a yearly budget of over $500,000 for site automation processes. Coordinated and supervised daily mechanical and systems task involving HVAC maintenance and operation. Managed Johnson Controls hourly mechanics and provided technical support on all systems from servers to I/O devices. Mentored mechanical and electrical tradesman in learning Information Technology, networking, and basic software algorithm. Provided contractor quarterly performance feedback and awards of $100 certificates to top performers as allowed by Merck.
● Provided technical support to other Merck Corporate groups as well as other Merck plant sites. Assisted other Merck Engineers in the understanding the Andover Control systems in order to better track site energy performance and cost on different sites.
● Lead a team of Engineers and Programmers to create a SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system for Real Time Energy Site Analysis. Managed and created the Functional Specifications for an application that was responsible for real time monitoring of energy at the site. This application alone was responsible for energy forecasting for our 5 million dollars a year utilities’ bill, preventive maintenance on equipment and overall understating on energy consumption on all utilities equipment.
● Participated and provided technical advice in the roll-out of PKI (Private Key/Public Key Encryption Technology) infrastructure at Merck. Supported Merck IT personnel in tying together Merck large Security Database with over 120,000 employees into several other systems to include the HR (Human Resources) and IT Security group. This project involved the creation of dedicated systems for this process and overall supervisory and technical expertise support for a 5 million dollar budget job.
● Responsible for Merck’s Data Center A/C, Electrical System, and Fire Control. Responsible for design and interface our EMS/BAS system to the existing Fire Control System installed by Simplex (A Tyco Company). This was a complex and large Data Center with over 100 Tons of cooling to include over 40 VAV’s boxes and Liebert Units.
