FORD OF VENEZUELA 1997 - 2010

IT Corporate Manager Valencia , Venezuela

Responsible for all IT areas in the Andean Region in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador. Implemented corporate guidelines in the region. Developed and maintained the enterprise IT vision and strategy plan for Ford of Venezuela and related companies (Mazda of Venezuela, Ford Motor Credit, Consortium Plan). Establish a centralized PMO with standard processes, practices, guidelines, methodologies, templates and metrics for the Andean region. Manage a portfolio of 60 projects value at $6.3 Mil. annually.

Led governance of PMO IT processes and practices in Executive Committee. Developed and executed IT cycle plans. Planned, tracked and monitored all aspect of multiple, simultaneous projects. Defined and manage portfolio of projects (infrastructure, applications, initiatives). Results: Executed Project Portfolio Management (PPM) processes, overseeing the governance of project execution and managing portfolio health including financial, schedule and quality reporting out frequent progress and risks to business.

Designed and deployed Six Sigma quality corporate initiative to the Andean region. Defined a PMO to plan, direct, coordinate and manage deployment strategy, team members, budget, organization, materials, requirements, metrics and goals. Results: Delivered 152 projects in three (2001-2004) years. Trained up to 70% of salaried personnel as Green Belts. Certified 22 Black Belts, and produced savings of $6.7 million.

Led team in executing $860K Monetary Conversion project to adapt Ford proprietary applications after Venezuela currency devaluation. Defined Statement of Work anf project Scope to adapt 13 corporate systems in USA, Europe and India plus 22 local (Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil) applications. Coordinated, directed and integrated a team of 78 culturally diverse and geographically dispersed persons. Manage complex interdependencies due to multiple platform from proprietary applications and ERP to PeopleSoft and Oracle financial products. Results: The project was completed ahead of schedule, on budget and to-expectation. This allowed flawless execution and compliance with government regulations.

Implemented project to replace LAN/WAN of assembly plant. Prepared the business case and project charter. Directed and coordinated the team activities, defined project schedule, identify and manage project risks, vendor management, milestone delivery, training, change management, budget control and communication strategy. Result: The project was executed six months ahead of schedule. Improved plant productivity by 10% representing $12 million the first year.

Developed and implemented project for migrating printing facilities and service to corporate standards. Define scope and requirements to deploy functionality. Defined the financial model to make the project feasible. Defined the project Work Breakdown Structure. Led, coordinated and managed the team. Negotiated with vendor options, resources and contracts. Result: Saved $115 K/monthly on printer costs. Improved printing customer satisfaction index from 62% to 95%.

Key contributor to local and regional expenditure committee. Analyzed available resources, determined operational requirements and identified opportunities (Contracts types, quality and availability of resources, economy of scale, etc) to reduce expenditures costs. Recommended reorientation and cost cutting initiatives to local Chief Financial Officer and Board of Director and regional (Canada, Mexico and South America) IT directors committee. Results: Oriented the IT organization toward a cost reduction mindset. Balanced project resources avoiding conflicts.

Managed outsourcing and vendor management. Developed a comprehensive project plan to migrate three different office automation service providers located in different sites into one unified structure. Consolidated call centers process and procedures. Led a team of 18 contractors from three different companies using three Fixed Price Incentive Fee Contract (FPIF). Results: Client satisfaction increased and operating costs were reduced.

Lead company transformation & business growth in Andean region. Provided IT expertise to business line directors and country manager. For example, implemented new Colombia Buy and Sell Office Project with a new WAN/LAN, virtualization & cloud computing facilities, IP telephony and printing facilities and services. Results: Achieve savings of $765K and sales growth of 7.3% after only the first year.

Developed first dealer e-business portal for regional automotive operation. Coordinated with development team and stakeholders to identify web capabilities to be developed. Defined the WBS. Manage the project base on SDLC. Results: Produced $11.4 million savings in warranty claims the first year. Improved communication and agility of business operation between dealers and plant.

Launched first E-Commerce pre-approval credit facility through Ford Andean region for Ford Motor Credit. Collect customer requirements. Analyzed legal regulations and banking businesses across the region. Prepared a multi-release plan to deliver functionalities, recommended process changes. Coordinated project scheduling and change management. Results: Produced sells through internet representing 7% of sales of the region.

Led the Project to integrate Mazda of Venezuela (MOV) and Ford Motor Credit (FMC) processes and systems with Ford of Venezuela (FOV). Migrate Mazda of Colombia SAP modules to Ford proprietary applications. Coordinated collection of requirements and scope. Led development of project plan and its execution. Used Earn Value Management to show project performance. Results: Communization, standardization and simplification of processes and systems. Improved service offerings and delivering capabilities; generated savings estimated at $1.25 million per year.
