OSP CONTRACT ENGINEER – Working for Windstream Telecom in Astabula, Ohio. Contracting through TEK Systems, Ceveland, Ohio. Work consisted of taking field notes, and designing jobs on Micro Station, a CAD system used by Windstream. I also worked with Job Trac, a materials and labor based costing software used for job pricing. The work area comprised a multitude of exchanges throughout north east and central Ohio. The work specifically consisted of creating construction drawings for placing fiber and copper cable, the placing of cross connect and remote switching equipment. This job assignment also involved placing fiber-to-the-cell-site.

OSP NETWORK ENGINEER – Working for Frontier Telecommunications in Burnsville, Minnesota. Contracting through Telecom America Services (TAS), San Marcos, Texas. Work consisted of taking field notes, preparing permits and designing jobs on an Autocad based CAD system, used by Frontier. I also worked in Infinium, a materials and labor based costing software used for job pricing. The work area covered five exchanges around the Minneapolis-St Paul area. Note: This short term job was abbreviated, even more so due to a severe, unexpected down turn in Frontier’s financial situation, which affected all five of the TAS placed contractors..

December 06, 2010 – March 25, 2011

FIELD ENGINEER for fiber to cell site, carrying out a pole line survey, in South Central WVA. Assignment under short term contract for MOUNTAIN LTD, New Gloucester, ME. This work consisted of the development of a six mile aerial fiber route between two cell tower sites; requiring placement of a 96 fiber, five mile section, then placing a 144 fiber, one mile section, back to a source tower. Surveyed all poles along the route where aerial attachment would be made, recording each pole’s vital statistics and all existing attachments and heights into field notes and on a pole data matrix.

OSP WIRE CENTER ENGINEER – Worked as contractor for EMBARQ, INC (SPRINT), consecutively with Central District of VA and then Central District of PA. Contracted through RJE TELECOM, Manchester, OH. Worked as Wire Center Engineer, designing in EWO CAD system) and using PACS (production, accounting and construction system). Provided OSPE design, routine jobs and service orders, including DSL and special circuits. Work area covered multiple rural wire centers throughout central Virginia and PA.

OSP DESIGN ENGINEER – Worked for AT&T in KY, Louisville District. Worked as Wire Center Engineer with sole responsibility for all AT&T activities in the assigned wire center, i.e. handled all customer interface, point of contact for assignment, records and accounting groups. Coordinated all work in wire center by line crews, splicers, contract construction and site developers. Primarily responsible for design and implementation of routine work orders for retail businesses, office parks, individual office buildings and residential development … condos, apartments and single family dwellings. Designed jobs that involved fiber to the curb (FITL), Fiber Smart Rings, copper cable (12 pair to 4800 pair), both fiber and copper Metro Ethernet for businesses in assigned wire center and both fiber and copper pair gain feeder cable. In addition, originated permit requests and supplied supporting documentation, researched ROW and easements; designed road moves initiated by developers and power company changes or highway department requirements. Further, the work involved underground, manhole and conduit placing, as required. Projects often required working closely with municipalities regarding tree trimming restrictions, traffic control and ROW considerations.

OUTSIDE PLANT ENGINEER – Worked as contractor for VERIZON, FL Operations in Sarasota, FL. Contracting with PCS Telecom. Work involved placing of temporary facilities for immediate service with C-wire in rapidly developing area. Followed up with engineering cable projects for permanent relief. Created work orders, providing available pair assignments and processing job through system to approval and release. This work consisted specifically of taking field notes, engineering design, accessing AAIS for cable pair availability, CAS/TASK inputting into IDDS, processing through RAMS and ICGS, sending to “CAD drafter”, then submitting for approval and release to scheduling.

OUTSIDE PLANT ENGINEER – Worked as contractor for VERIZON, PA Operations in York, PA, contracted with RJE Telecom. Work involved checking engineered jobs, mainly work orders or small projects and inputting them through CAS/TASK system process in IDDS. Engineered work order jobs placing facilities in rural and urban environments.

OUTSIDE PLANT ENGINEER – Worked for SPRINT in Junction City, KS, contracting through AJILON TELECOM. Work involved field engineering and designing work order jobs for the Central KS Region. Utilized the EWO CAD system, PACS Administration & Costing system, Oracle retirement application and CLAS facilities application.

INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE ENGINEER - CDI CORPORATION, contracting with SBC Ameritech, Detroit, MI – worked in distribution rehab. as Field Engineer and designing the removal and replacement of urban and rural facilities for aerial and buried cable with terminals and new wiring limits, cross connects, building entrances and terminals.

Built and maintained diverse fiber optic backbone network, managed all OSP operations facilities placing.
