Maintaining the secure environment across GE for nearly 400,000 endpoints using Sophos endpoint

Security application. Presenting the best practices to client to have the best supportive architecture

in place for efficient delivery of engine updates and virus definitions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Incident management which majorly includes in restoring various types of issues faced by end users like: Virus outbreaks, Client installation issue, client update issue, Firewall issue, client reporting to console, Service failure, Performance issue due to Sophos scans.

Change management which includes working on implementing the change requests like:

Various scan settings initialization (On-Read, On-Write, and On-Rename), Scan Exclusions for required applications,Scheduling scans,HIPS configurations,WebContentScaning,Error Acknowledgment,Policy Enforcement,Machine entry movement & decommission.

Release management ensures virus signature updates and engine updates are applied to all machines on monthly basis.

Sophos DataLossPrevention is a solution integrated with Application,Device&Data control features which is a simple approach to data loss prevention integrated with the antivirus engine where it scans for sensitive information on both the endpoint and email appliances. This is configured across 100000 machines across GE.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Configuring Application Control Policies via console which will control the applications that could cause security or legal problems like P2P or instant messaging.

Configuring Device Control Policies via console which helps to reduce the risk of data loss and malware infection by giving control of removable devices like USB keys, drives and wireless networking devices.

Configuring Data Control Policies via console which lets us watch for the transfer of sensitive data, such as personally identifiable information (PII) or company confidential documents. This can reduce the risks of data accidentally saved to a removable storage device or sent out of the organization, without keeping the employees from going about their daily tasks.
