Data Center Operations Manager

Harte-Hanks is a high volume email solutions provider (ESP) catering to the email and marketing needs of its customers. Harte-Hanks transmit an estimated 8–30 million emails per day out of the Dallas datacenter facility for its customers.

• Project lead in key infrastructure upgrades for 2 large Harte-Hanks customers. Designed release timelines, project plans, roll-back plans and oversaw the QA and testing process pre/post upgrade.

• Document and implemented policies in relation to the corporate and public network security from firewall rules, password expiration and internet policies to monthly Microsoft Windows update policy and procedures.

• Managed the implementation of new tape backup strategy in conjunction with disaster recovery and security policy planning.

• Managed the migration of datacenter communications from legacy Cisco hardware to new Cisco hardware and firewalls.

• Researched, document and planned the integration of spam filtering to reduce spam being received and processed by Harte-Hanks mail systems.

Ignite offers a comprehensive content delivery system allowing for content to be secured, tracked, and played on or off line. Ignites customers include Accenture, KPMG, Bearing Point, McDonalds, Countrywide and Bank of America.

• Managed architecture, design and implementation of primary data center from the base up that has successfully passed security audits from Bank of America, KPMG, Accenture, Bearing Point, and American Express while being built 40% under budget.

• Renegotiated ISP contract reducing the cost of bandwidth from $25 per MB to $10 MB saving the company saving the company $108K dollars annually.

• Participated in the completion of required security questionnaires and provided tours to potential customers following datacenter guidelines and procedures. The security questionnaires and datacenter tours were key components to establishing contracts with Bank of America and American Express bringing in revenue for Ignite.

• Managed, planned, implemented primary center migration plan to move primary data center to new co-location with little impact on the customer experience.

• Negotiated bulk computer purchase from Dell for contract providing the company over $250K in instant profits from the sale of same machines to customer as a managed desktop solution.
