Design Engineer: currently, on-site support Engineer for field fabrication, installation and any necessary design changes or layout updates for the new Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN. utilizing ACAD 2009, Product Stream and Professional Inventor software.

2005-2009 Automatic Systems Inc.: Brighton, MI 48116

Mechanical Conveyor/Design Engineer: I produced functional and efficient floor and overhead conveyor equipment path layouts. Designed customer requested equipment in ACAD 2008 along with providing engineering support for manufacturing, installation and any product enhancements to allow continuous operations of product provided for both automotive and bulk handling projects. Also responsible for directing team members with detailed assignments while interacting with supervisor giving daily progress reports of project. Performed numerous conveyor calculations; drive sizes, equipment capacities, shaft sizing, bearings, kip loads and chain pulls then implemented the selected components into approved equipment designs. Conceptualized and designed the following conveyor assemblies for detailing: skillet system, drives, take-ups, floor frames, product load/unload, overhead supports, structural steel, screen guarding, carriers, tracks and lifts etc… for EMS, OHP&F and floor conveyors. I was assigned to troubleshoot cycle times and job production issues for various conveyor situations. I provided a complete turnkey product from on-site field checks of project kick-offs to submitting final as-built drawings per customer specifications.

1998 -2005 Central Conveyor/Dumas Central Industries: Brighton, MI 48116

Project Engineer: monitored a diverse amount of automotive material handling projects that included; attending initial design review meetings to progress and final customer approval conferences. I Performed plant field checks obtaining engineering data on existing structural and conveyor equipment for locations and interferences in order to produce an overall functional layout along with generating the equipment designs. Distributed work tasks to assigned team members and monitored productivity throughout project while applying customer specifications and design requirements. Organized and implemented a timely and effective engineering plan in order to complete an assigned project within budget and a given project schedule. My project assignments ranged from 500K to 5M involving OHP&F, IP&F, Lifts, Skid, Power Roll Beds, CDLR’s and Flat Top conveyors. I assisted manufacturing and installation supervisors for engineering and documentation support.

1996-1998 Aseco Inc: Linden, MI 48451

Project Engineer/Manager: this was a smaller privately owned company requiring diversified tasks. I managed automation and material handling projects from initial customer line up meetings to final product delivery. Responsibilities included: designed equipment from concepts and sketches, kept documents current, maintained multiple project budgets, met customer deadlines, wrote purchase requisitions as well as interfaced directly with suppliers. I submitted as-built drawings and had continuous customer interaction until shipment of approved product. Some hands on assembly were required along with plant visitations for customer meetings and product troubleshooting.

1994-1996 Durr Automation: Wixom, MI 48393

Mechanical Design Engineer: performed design tasks while working with Project Managers and provided customer support along with vendor contact for final product designs. Mechanical tasks included automation designs of material handling equipment such as; walking beams, engine block pushers, washers, conveyors and robotic overhead gantries.

1992-1994 Idea Engineering and Fabrication: Detroit, MI 48227

Mechanical Engineer: designed plant system layouts strategically locating floor and overhead conveying systems. Project engineer for the design, fabrication and installation of automotive duty skids & skuk conveyors also participated in “launch” and progress meetings while adhering to customer allocated schedules. I communicated engineering information and field sketches from the customer’s plant site back to the home office engineering team.
