The design of all phases of structural engineering including writing proposals, preliminary concept designs, construction specifications, calculations, final contract documents, plan layout, and finer details of building components. CULP AND TANNER, INC. 2004 – 2008

Project Engineer

Responsible for the structural/civil engineering design of typical commercial buildings in Southern California. Coordinated with clients, mechanical, electrical and architects on both technical and commercial issues. Projects ranged from custom wood homes, masonry machine shops, concrete tilt-up office buildings, to steel moment-resisting multi-story community centers. In addition to structural design were site observations of concrete parking structures, project administration, water intrusion investigations and concrete crack inspections. Senior Structural/Civil Engineer

Responsible for submitting construction documents, specifications and interface with various governmental agencies; responsible for engineering and construction coordination during construction phase. Performed manual drafting and computer aided design (CAD). Coordinated with various engineering personnel. Working in a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, completed various projects for governmental defense projects, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, MacDonald-Douglas, Northrup-Grumman, Western Digital and also Mater Dei High School.

Engineer

Structurally designed various underground structures at airport runways, automobile traffic locations, walkways and gardens. Performed assorted testing for impact, high temperatures and automobile loads on commercial products. Using finite element analysis programs, hand calculations and molding experience, products were created using high density polyurethane plastic, structural foam, fiberglass reinforced concrete structures, steel reinforced concrete shells and steel shapes.

Project Engineer

Performed structural engineering calculations and manual drafting. Completed structural design projects in reinforced masonry and structural steel brace-frame for the Edwards Theater in Alhambra with a sky-light dome lobby, K-mart in Carson, and the Citadel castle walls with space-frame tower signage in Commerce, California.

Construction Apprentice

Built custom homes in Carmel for exacting lifestyles. Excavated foundations, bent rebar, set anchor bolts, poured concrete, mopped waterproofing, nailed wood framing members and structural panels. He started at the bottom as a greenhorn laborer and worked his way up to designing landscapes, customizing kitchens, space planning for bedrooms, living rooms, etc.
