EDUCATION:
1999-2002 Masters of Science in Information and Systems Science (M.Sc. ISS)
Thesis: Impulse Response Characterization and Space-Time Equalization
Requirements for Fixed Broadband Wireless Systems at 29.5 GHz
Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario
The purpose of the research contribution was to investigate broadband equalization
requirements for an LMCS type communication system. A propagation measurement
campaign was conducted in Ottawa to characterize the outdoor radio channel in the band
of frequencies allocated for LMCS/LMDS. These channel characteristics were
investigated to evaluate the optimum decision feedback equalizer structure at different
transmission rates in order to provide design requirements for broadband wireless
receivers.
Research Summary: PMP, LMCS/LMDS, ISI, frequency selective fading, multipath
propagation, modulation techniques (PSK, FSK, ASK, QPSK, QAM), adaptive
equalization (linear, non-linear), diversity-combining, impulse response characterization,
multiple access techniques (TDMA, FDMA, CDMA), cellular concepts (frequency reuse,
co-channel interference, etc.), MATLAB
1998-1999 Preparation coursework for the M.Sc. ISS
