Contech U.S., LLC, Mishawaka, Indiana, Senior Applications Specialists 1996 - 2009
Contech is a leading manufacturer of complex die-cast components for the automotive industry. They utilize the most up-to-date machinery and the latest technology, to produce top-quality products. Their strategic intent is to globalize and double their business over the next several years. The Metal Forge Business, part of Contech now called Steel Products, consists of a cold forge plant in North Carolina and Ryken Tube in Walled Lake MI, all using the Blis/400 software.
Responsibile for the portion of the IT department that supports the BLIS/400 ERP software on the AS/400 for all seven manufacturing plants and the home office for Contech. The IT department consists of several AS/400s, a Novell network, over 350 desktops/laptops. Current position reports directly to the Director of Information Technology.
•Implemented bar code scanning for material issues and vendors receipts in the die cast plant stock rooms.
•Replaced DOS bar code software with T.L. Ashford software on the iSeries
•Implemented Automatic Data Collection on the production floor with webs sites to monitor up to the minute production
•Implemented New Generation Software (NGS), using in house developed data warehouse. Queries are both printed reports and Qport graphs and charts.
•Responsible for the ERP software, B&L Information Systems Die Cast Software
•Implemented a real time data collection system for die cast inventory control
•Implemented the Kronos time and attendance data collection system with an automatic feed to the Peoplesoft and Vista payroll systems.
•Developed and implemented a WAN between all of the plants and replaced the dial up system using a T1 frame relay
•Upgraded the entire infrastructure at all Contech locations to 100mg Ethernet for faster, more reliable communication.
•Developed and implemented an E-mail system using Lotus Notes email, later moved to the SPX data center.
•Replaced all of the servers with new hardware running Novell IntraNetware 4.11.
Allied Signal, Inc., South Bend, Indiana July 1996 – December 1996
This division of Allied Signal provides a lease program for wheels, tires and brakes for large commercial airlines. Allied used an AS/400 with MAPICS and in house developed systems to track inventory. I was hired as a Senior Programmer Analysts to maintain the software and hardware and all of its related functions.
Ristance Corporation., Mishawaka, Indiana October 1989 – July 1996
The Ristance division of Echlin manufactures ignition wire, ignition wire kits battery cables, and related products for the automotive after market. Ristance uses Ask Data/3 as the enterprise software on the AS/400, and Windows NT Server for the network.
Senior Programmer Analysts/Operations Administrator
•Upgraded from the System/38 to the AS/400
•Responsible for RPG programming, system support, and operations.
•Instrumental in the design and implementation of their first network, using 10mg Ethernet and Windows NT Server.
Holy Cross Shared Services, South Bend, Indiana December 1985 – October 1989
Holy Cross Shared Services is an organization put together for the administration of insurance and benefits for the Sisters of the Holy Cross, and their employees.
