BACKGROUND: I have had a career spanning academic and clinical medicine, basic research, pharmaceutical medical and scientific affairs, CRO experience and private consulting. This has given me the opportunity to function in many roles, including senior executive leadership. I have developed and lead multi-functional teams addressing a spectrum of patient and administrative issues such as patient safety, trial design, scientific and clinical strategy, and health economics and outcomes research. I have lead teams to evaluate in-licensing and business development opportunities. I have an extensive opinion leader network from which I am able to access a wealth of experience and opinion.
I have maintained an active teaching and clinical practice. This has allowed me to remain current and board certified in pulmonary medicine and sleep medicine and to continue to be aware of the challenges faced by physicians and hospitals with respect to the practice of medicine, ethical and social issues, managed care and reimbursement. I have presented scientific data in over 25 countries. I am also involved at the policy level within the American College of Chest Physicians.
I am Associate Professor at Seton Hall University through which I teach at the only sleep fellowship program in New Jersey at JFK Medical Center, Sleep Center. There I have teaching and clinicla responsibilities and direct a varied research program. I have worked closely with a major manufacturere of devices for the treatment of sleep apnea. Finally, I practice part time pulmonary and critical care medicine with the Summit Medical Group,.
