PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

MWI PUMP CORPORATION, Deerfield Beach, Florida 1991 – 2010

Director of Engineering, Deerfield Beach Headquarters (1999 to 2010)

Responsible for the supervision of all corporate engineering activities, including design and development, the improvement of quality assurance standards, an Intranet engineering support system for customer and sales staff in the field, plus revision of engineering data storage and retrieval systems.

• Reorganized the engineering department, identifying the responsibilities of staff in charge of the product lines: Hydraulically driven water pumps, Submersible Electric pumps, Line Shaft Pumps, Rotoflos Pumps, Pedaleflo Pumps, Water Well Air & Mud Rotary Drill.

• Effectively led Pump Performance Testing, Engineering Sales/Service Support and Project Coordination.

• Implemented procedures necessary for registration / certification of company products to ISO 9001-2000.

• Had senior management to approve procurement of a parametric drawing program (SolidWorks) and generated Standard Product drawings. Entered Bills of Materials of all products in a product structure using features and options in Macola. These steps not only reduced the shop packet release time in engineering, but also helped material handling to procure buy outs on schedule by running shortage reports meet deliveries in time and met customer ship dates.

• Appointed task force committees, discussed and changed designs and drawings to reduce production time and improve quality of the products, thus meeting customer specification and satisfaction.

Engineering Manager/Manufacturing and Design Engineer, Deerfield Beach Headquarters (1995 – 1999)

Responsible for the design of hydraulic devices, preparation of production drawings, research and selection of materials and components, supervision of prototype production and field testing.

• Led the design of an efficient and user-friendly Pedalflo Village Water Supply System, complete with solar power option including water treatment, pressurization and storage. This design has received a US patent and the product has been successfully marketed in Africa and Latin America.

• Effectively designed the Mobile Hydraflo 30” and 36” Pump with turn table and 12”telescopic Pump, a completely self-contained and highly efficient mobile pump stations which meets the emergency pumping requirements of overseas customers. These designs have also received US patents.

• Successfully designed four models of Mud and Air Rotary Water Well Drilling Rig with capacities from 75 to 300 meters, which led to a new product line. This was well received by customers in the developing world due to its robust design, ease of maintenance and operation.

M & W PUMP NIGERIA LTD, Borno State, Nigeria 1985 – 1991

Operations Manager (1988 – 1991)

Responsible for setting up a joint venture manufacturing facility and provide after sales services for the company’s hydraulically operated axial flow water pumps throughout Nigeria.

• Supervised construction and installation/commissioning of machinery in the company’s 20,000 square foot plant.

• Successfully initiated discussions with the World Bank/UNDP technical representatives to qualify the plant for manufacturing village hand pumps to SKAT specifications. This led to development of several new products for the Rural Water Supply Market, including village water supply systems and borehole well drilling equipment.

Resident Engineer (1985 – 1998)

Responsible for training and after sales services for the MWI hydraulically-driven large axial flow water pumps.

• Established customer relations by conducting training in the repair and maintenance of MWI water pumps in the 20 states.

• Increased sale of water pumps by enhancing the confidence level in the MWI products in effective operation of service fleets to sale parts and repair services.

GONGOLA JAMA’ARE RIVER BASIN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, Nigeria 1984 – 1985

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Bauchi State Headquarters

Responsible for the management of staff, repair and maintenance of the Plant’s equipment, including management of the central and all project workshops. The newly formed authority was responsible for water resource management and agricultural development, including a 500-megawatt dam.

• Successfully organized and setup the Mechanical Department, which involved staffing and training of personnel.

• Setup and equipped the central workshop, including inventorying of all plant and machinery in the authority.

• Supervised and effectively executed major repair work on heavy earth moving machinery.

UPPER BENUE RIVER BASIN RURAL DEVEOPMENT AUTHORITY, Nigeria 1981 – 1984

Mechanical Engineer, Gongola State Headquarters

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of over 100 heavy earth moving machines at several sites spanning two states.

• Effectively laid out specifications of machinery to setup a central workshop in Yola, Gongola State, Nigeria.

• Assigned to a special task force directed under Presidential Decree to create a 2000-hectare agricultural production program. Supervised repair, maintenance and operation of agricultural and heavy machinery from land preparation to sowing. This project was effectively completed in 2 months.

• Directed staff and supervised the repair and maintenance of a fleet of heavy earth moving machinery, agricultural machinery, Hydraflo/mechanical pumps, generators and a fully automated water treatment plant, while assigned to 3000 Ha Project in Gassol (approximately 70 machines).

CEYLON FISHERY HARBORS CORPORATION, Colombo, Sri Lanka 1975 - 1980

Superintending Engineer Mechanical (1978 –1980)

Responsible for mechanical department in the supervision and operation of the Central Workshop and seven regional workshops in slipping of crafts, mechanical repairs of fishing trawlers, dredgers, cranes, refrigeration and harbor construction machinery.

• Strategically commissioned four regional workshops which involved staffing, procurement of workshop machinery and establishment and implementation of procedures for operation and efficient provisioning of harbor facilities to fisherman.

Mechanical Engineer, Cental WorkShop (1975 – 1978)

Responsible for operation of the Central Workshop in marine repairs and slipping of crafts up on 500 Tons and 65 Tons slip ways.

• Negotiated with private contractors to repair underwater railings on the 500 Tons slip way and obtained certification to slip crafts up to 350 Tons. Increasing slipping capacity enabled the workshop to undertake more foreign repair works and increase revenue to the corporation
